Galatians 1
1 Paul,
- an apostle --
- not from men,
- nor through man,
- but through Jesus Christ,
- and God the Father,
- who did raise him //Jesus// out of the dead --
- and all the brethren with me,
- to the assemblies of Galatia:
Verse 3-5
Grace to you //assemblies of Galatia// ,
and peace
- from God the Father,
- and our Lord Jesus Christ,
- who did give himself for our sins,
- that he might deliver us
- out of the present evil age,
- according to the will of God
- even our Father,
- that he might deliver us
- to whom [is] the glory
- to the ages of the ages. Amen.
- who did give himself for our sins,
Verse 6-10
I //Paul// wonder that
- ye //assemblies of Galatia// are so quickly removed from Him
- who did call you
- in the grace of Christ
- to another good news //what was the other good news? Acts 15:1//
- that is not another,
- except there be certain who //who was troubling them? Acts 13:50; Acts 14:2; Acts 15:5//
- are troubling you,
- and wishing to pervert
- the good news of the Christ;
- but even if we or a messenger out of heaven
- may proclaim good news to you
- different from what we did proclaim to you //what was the good news they claimed? Acts 13:32//
- -- anathema //accursed// let him be! Joshua 6:26
- different from what we did proclaim to you //what was the good news they claimed? Acts 13:32//
- as we have said before, and now say again,
- If any one to you may proclaim good news different from what ye did receive --
- anathema //accursed// let him be!
- If any one to you may proclaim good news different from what ye did receive --
- for now men do I persuade, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if yet men I did please -- Christ's servant I should not be.
- may proclaim good news to you
- who did call you
Acts 13:32 Good news: What God promised our ancestors he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David. Davidic Covenant; Through Jesus you have the removal of sins, including all those you could not set right by the Torah of Moses. Through Jesus everyone who keeps trusting is made righteous. (Habakkuk 1: Torah has no effect and justice never goes forth. For the wicked encircle the righteous, therfore justice comes out perverted.) Jesus was placed as a light to the nations (non Jews) Messianic Covenant
Acts 15 Other good news: unless you are circumcized according to the custom of Moses you cannot be saved. Pharisees: It is necessary to be circumcise and keep the Torah of Moses. Peter said we //Jews// are saved through grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way as they are. Isaiah 45 :21 Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. All the seed of Israel will be justified and give praise. James said the Gentiles should abstain from these essentials the contamination of idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood. Exodus 22:31; Exodus 34:15-17; Leviticus 3:17; Leviticus 17:8-13; Leviticus 18:6-26. //These three things would keep them from being a part of any temple worship to any other god// For Moses is read in all the synagogues every Shabbat.
Verses 11-21
And I //Paul// make known to you //assemblies in Galiatia//, brethren,
- the good news
- that were proclaimed by me,
- that it is not according to man,
- for neither did I from man receive it,
- nor was I taught [it],
- but through a revelation of Jesus Christ,
- for ye did hear of my behaviour once in Judaism,
- that exceedingly I was persecuting the assembly of God, and wasting it,
- and I was advancing in Judaism
- above many equals in age
- in mine own race,
- being more abundantly zealous of my fathers' deliverances //oral law traditions//
- and when God was well pleased
- -- having separated me from the womb of my mother,
- and having called [me] through His grace -- Isaiah 49:1
- to reveal His Son in me,
- that I might proclaim him good news among the nations,
- to reveal His Son in me,
- immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood,
- nor did I go up to Jerusalem unto those who were apostles before me,
- but I went away to Arabia,
- and again returned to Damascus,
- then, after three years I went up to Jerusalem to enquire about Peter, and remained with him fifteen days,
- and other of the apostles I did not see,
- except James, the brother of the Lord.
- for ye did hear of my behaviour once in Judaism,
- And the things that I write to you, lo, before God -- I lie not;
- then I came to the regions of Syria and of Cilicia,
- and was unknown by face to the assemblies of Judea,
- that [are] in Christ,
- and only they were hearing,
- that `he who is persecuting us then, doth now proclaim good news
- -- the faith that then he was wasting;'
- that `he who is persecuting us then, doth now proclaim good news
- and they were glorifying God in me.
- and was unknown by face to the assemblies of Judea,
- then I came to the regions of Syria and of Cilicia,
- the good news
