Saint, one reserved by and for God

"Saint" translates the Greek word hagios, which describes a person set apart, reserved for God's exclusive use. Thus, Scripture treats every saved person as a "saint". Synonyms for this "setting apart", using the same Greek root word, are saint, holy, sacred, and consecrated.
