Bravo Group, which has worked with different parts of Sunoco for at least five years, makes the statement on its website, in describing its role in working on the cross-state Mariner East 2 pipeline, which is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of this year.

“We’re helping Sunoco build public and policyholder support for its Mariner East projects, an infrastructure investment of more than $3 billion,” the statement says. “The goal: secure regulatory approvals, neutralize opposition, and develop the Mariner East projects on budget and without capital losses.”

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today nominated Pamela A. Witmer as a member of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, or PUC.

"Pam Witmer has more than 20 years of governmental experience as well as a strong background in environmental and energy issues," Corbett said. "I am pleased to nominate her to the Public Utility Commission."

If confirmed by the Senate, Witmer will succeed Commissioner Tyrone Christy, whose term on the PUC has expired.

Witmer currently the leads the energy and environment practice for Harrisburg-based Bravo Group, a governmental and public relations firm. From 2000 to 2007, she was president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council, a trade association. She formerly served as a legislative liaison for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Witmer earned a bachelor's degree in public service from the Pennsylvania State University. She lives in Hummelstown, Dauphin County.

The PUC balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.

The PUC is comprised of five, full-time members who serve staggered, five-year terms. Commissioners set policy on matters affecting utility rates and services, as well as on personnel, budget, fiscal and administrative matters. Find more information online at www.puc.state.pa.us.

Commissioners Welcome Pam Witmer To Public Utility Commission

The Public Utility Commission today welcomed Pamela A. Witmer of Dauphin County to the Commission and thanked the Senate for its unanimous confirmation vote in support of her nomination.

"My colleagues and I are very pleased to welcome Pam to the Commission," Chairman Robert F. Powelson said. "Pam possesses the character, drive, knowledge of the issues and aptitude to be a vital part of the Commission. In my view, Gov. Corbett has made a wise choice in Pam Witmer."

On June 23, the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee unanimously approved Gov. Tom Corbett's June 7 nomination of Witmer as PUC Commissioner.

In her confirmation hearing remarks, Witmer promised she would be a "strong, independent Commissioner, thinker and decision-maker on behalf of Pennsylvania's consumers."

Witmer most recently led the energy and environment practice for Harrisburg-based Bravo Group, a governmental and public relations firm. From 2000 to 2007, she was President and CEO of the PA Chemical Industry Council, a trade association.

She formerly served in the Department of Environmental Protection under Gov. Tom Ridge as the lead legislative liaison, where she successfully steered legislation through the General Assembly to create the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. She also served on the Corbett Transition Team's Energy & Environment Committee.

Witmer earned a bachelor's degree in public service from the Pennsylvania State University. She lives in Hummelstown, Dauphin County.

Witmer will succeed Commissioner Tyrone J. Christy, whose term on the PUC has expired and whose last Public Meeting will be June 30.

HARRISBURG - The committee advising Gov.-elect Tom Corbett on environmental and energy issues includes several prominent lobbyists who represent Marcellus Shale drilling firms.

The 30-member panel includes former state environmental secretaries, environmentalists and alternate energy representatives as well.

Corbett formed the committee to advise him on issues and impending decisions involving the Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and Public Utility Commission before he takes office Jan. 18.

These three agencies have a regulatory role over the natural gas drilling boom underway in Northeast Pennsylvania and other regions on issues ranging from drinking water protection, drilling on state forest land and pipeline safety.

Corbett has said he wants to develop the Marcellus Shale gas deposits as a long-term economic venture while maintaining environmental protections. Efforts to reach Corbett spokesman Kevin Harley Wednesday were unsuccessful.

The Marcellus lobbyists on the panel have other major businesses and organization clients too.

They include Peter Gleason of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Gates who represents Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. and Chesapeake Appalachia, two firms active in Northeast Pennsylvania, according to lobbyist disclosure reports with the Department of State. Cabot is at odds with DEP over whether the company's natural gas drilling is responsible for water supply contamination in Dimock Twp.

Also lobbyist Stanley Rapp with Greenlee Partners who represents Range Resources-Appalachia, CNX Gas Corp. and NextEra Energy Resources. He represents PPL Corp. as well.

And lobbyist Pam Witmer with Bravo Group who represents Chief Oil and Gas, Chief Gathering LLC and RRI Energy.

The panel is chaired by David Kleppinger, an attorney with McNees Wallace and Nurick who lobbies for the Industrial Energy Consumers of Pennsylvania.

David Hess and Nicholas DeBenedictis, former DEP/DER secretaries under Govs. Mark Schweiker and Richard Thornburgh, are on the panel. So is John Oliver, a former DCNR secretary under Gov. Tom Ridge.

George Ellis, president of the Pennsylvania Coal Association, and Ellen Ferretti, Dallas, vice president of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council who works on Pocono land issues, are on the panel. Patrick Solano, Pittson, a former DEP deputy secretary, and John Rich, owner of a coal waste power plant in Schuylkill County, are members.
