bEAR-MAGEDDON: 7 Outlets Scaremonger Polar Bears ‘Rewriting’ DNA to Fight Climate Change
December 16th, 2025
Apparently, our furry friends in the Arctic are becoming ingenious chemists to fight the climate boogeyman didn’t you know! At least, that’s the kooky notion a number of lefty outlets are pushing in their latest batch of climate change codswallop.
ABC News, NBC News, Daily Beast, BBC, The Guardian, The Independent and EuroNews all did the eco-scare dance over a new study and claimed polar bears were “rewriting their DNA” to fight climate change. No, you didn’t misread that. Amidst the repeatedly debunked notion that polar bears are destined to go extinct in the next few decades or so, the Daily Beastin particular, expressed “hopes that with these new findings we are able to reduce our carbon emissions to buy the bears enough time to adapt to their changing environment.” In essence, curb your carbon-emitting lifestyles or the bears are going to die!
Climate Depot founder Marc Morano blasted the media outlets perpetuating this nonsense in comments to MRC Business. “Scientists and scientific data have known for decades that 'climate change' was not threatening polar bears in the Arctic. The number of polar bears in the Arctic has increased dramatically in recent decades, particularly since a hunting ban was imposed.” Specifically, said Morano, “The polar bear population exploded from an estimated 5,000 in the 1960s to 30,000 or more today.”
Reading the headlines from the liberal media made it seem like polar bears were forced to take matters into their own hands.
The Daily Beast Breaking News Intern Tamilore Oshikanlu was adamant December 15 that “Climate Change Is Forcing Polar Bears to Rewrite Their DNA.” Gee, we never expected these mammals to be such experts in gene editing. As global temperatures rise, claimed Oshikanlu, “Arctic sea ice is shrinking, leaving bears without the frozen platforms they rely on to hunt seals … prolonged food scarcity appears to be driving biological shifts that allow some bears to better process plant-based and lower-fat diets when prey is unavailable.” Makes sense why the Beast’s full-time reporters didn’t want to attach their name to such stupidity so they kicked it down to the intern. Our sympathies, Oshikanlu.
Apparently the Beast wasn’t the only one to pass off the story down the food chain in their staff. NBC News London-based intern Elmira Aliieva was one of the first to break the story on the polar bear superpowers. “Polar bears are rewiring their own genetics to survive a warming climate,” read her headline. It’s as if these media types are just copying off the same movie script. She propagandized that climate change was “the icy habitat essential to [polar bears’]” existence. As such, wrote Aliieva, “new research suggests polar bears are rapidly rewiring their own genetics in a bid to survive.”
ABC News reporter Brianna Alvarado’s story on the matter wasn’t much better: “Polar bears are 'rewriting their DNA' to survive warming Arctic, study suggests.” In the piece, Alvarado doom-mongered, “Researchers say the discovery of these genetic changes offers a glimmer of hope for the bears' survival, as two-thirds of the world’s population could perish by 2050.”
But this is a load of bunk, as Morano joked to MRC. “It is safe to say that polar bears are disappearing, but only from Al Gore's books and movies!” He joked that “In Gore's 2006 film, he made the polar bear a poster child for global warming, but fast forward to his 2017 film and book sequel, and Gore did not even mention them.” Scientists have testified before Congress that “polar bears have survived several historic episodes of much warmer temperatures over the last 10,000 years, and they have adapted,” Morano noted. In essence, polar bear adaptation to a changing climate isn’t even a new thing.
Morano argued that what the new study does, if anything, is reveal “some insight into one of the many ways these bears have adapted.”
BBC also exploited the study to push for an eco-regulatory state: “But despite the signs of adaption [sic] to a changing environment, [Lead researcher Dr Alice Godden] said efforts to limit global temperature increases must continue.”
A blogger for the British leftist agitprop-pushing publication The Guardian, Martin Belam, teed up the study like a movie trailer in his December 16 newsletter: “Amid the constant drumbeat of bleak news about the planet’s environment and the accelerating climate emergency, the occasional bright spot still emerges.” He then attacked humanity outright:
But is it really good news that human activity – the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of habitats – is forcing animals to alter their genetic makeup? The picture, as ever, is complicated.
Darn those pesky humans, right Belam?
The Independent's Asia Climate Correspondent Stuti Mishra took it a step further than her media compatriots in her eco-alarmism by stipulating that full polar bear extinction was possible because of humanity, regardless of their newly discovered, er, gene-editing capabilities:
More than two-thirds of polar bears are expected to vanish by 2050, with full extinction possible by the end of the century if global emissions continue on their current trajectory.
Euro News reporter Liam Gilliver made polar bear “jumping genes” the main hook in his headline, before taking Mishra’s route and decreeing Bear-Mageddon in his lede sentence. “Polar bears face ‘total extinction’ by the end of this century, but scientists have found a small beacon of ‘hope,’” Gilliver sensationalized.
But the seemingly nuttier bits of climate change tomfoolery continuously oozing out of the media eco-sphere shouldn’t be expected to fade away, Morano said. “When current reality fails to alarm, the climate activist will continue to make scarier and scarier (unfounded) predictions of the future."

The round table of round women on The View are nothing but outgrown mean girls. They’re in the same category as the slobs screeching over Sydney Sweeney. Their ideology is rooted in misery and jealousy. I discussed on Fox News TV this morning:

Antisemitism is what people reach for when they have nothing left to say.
That is where Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens are now.
Not truth. Not facts.
Just recycled lies about shadowy power, media control, and Jewish influence.
This is not bravery or free thinking.
It is the oldest scam in politics. Blame Jews. Collect applause. Cash the checks.
Every generation thinks it has found a “new” way to dress this up.
History proves otherwise.
When serious thinking ends, antisemitism begins.

Krugman’s ‘Fossilized’ Climate Mind Doesn’t Have a Clue About the Coal Industry
bless Paul Krugman’s little birdbrain. The disgruntled propagandist disguising himself as an economist is once again departing from his normal economic mudslinging schtick to kvetch over the climate change boondoogle.
Krugman’s latest move was to sling sludge at those who dared defend the utility of fossil fuels in an economy that’s being jawboned into an eco-friendly future.
“Fossil Fuels and Fossilized Minds,” read Krugman’s hilarious September 30 Substack headline, ironic given that this is the same personwho told President Joe Biden before his term in office, “Don’t worry about inflation.” Who exactly has a “fossilized” mind again, Krugman?
After cringeworthy praises of “Wind power” and how he “likes” the eyesore “sight of wind turbines,” Krugman proceeded to attack President Donald Trump because he “hates wind power and loves coal. Both passions are deeply irrational. Yet they are shaping policy.”
Krugman’s new beef was that Trump was trying to revive a dying coal industry that he argued was just phased out by typical market shifts towards natural gas and renewables. “The truth, however, is that coal is a dying industry for very good reasons, and anti-wokeism is unlikely to revive it. Coal stopped being a significant source of jobs decades ago.”
But as Climate Depot founder Marc Morano told MRC Business: “Krugman needs to examine how energy is produced to understand why coal is a crucial component in reviving American energy dominance.”
It's unclear why he considers himself any kind of authority on this matter when he had just finished nuking his own credibility on economics during the Biden administration, but whatever. Then again, this is the same Krugman who stupidly advocated that Americans should “politicize the weather.”
Firstly, said Morano, “a healthy coal industry is crucial for any nation's national security. Domestic coal production is a strategic asset that does not depend on importation. Coal helps achieve economic stability and supply chain resilience.” But in Krugman’s ignorant world, trying to maintain a thriving coal sector is just about a “culture war. Trying to bring back coal is all about owning the libs. And if it damages the environment, well, from MAGA’s point of view that’s a plus.” Morano slammed Krugman’s take as completely false.
One of the biggest boo-boos Krugman made was when he asserted that “Wind power is, in fact, far cleaner and safer than burning fossil fuels.” Morano took that narrative to the cleaners:
Not even close: the documentary Juice explained: ‘Just to produce one turbine, we have to extract 900 tons of steel, 2,500 tons of concrete, and 45 tons of non-renewable plastic. Then we’ve got to transport that and burn fuel, getting it all carried across the world and put up. And none of these things that go into a turbine are renewable.’
Krugman also bleated that it was supposedly a “simple fact that coal is no longer cost-competitive, while wind and solar are…Trying to keep coal alive will make energy more expensive, not less.” But Morano pointed out that Krugman’s argument hinges on a red herring:
The goal of America’s energy sector isn’t to create as many jobs as possible (as Krugman would apparently have us believe), especially the politically-favored and heavily-subsidized renewable energy jobs. Instead, the goal is to produce as much electric power as possible at the lowest possible cost, and that means we want to choose the most productive energy like coal, which requires fewer energy workers.
If that wasn’t clear enough, economist Mark Perry concluded in a 2017 analysis for the American Enterprise Institute that it takes 79 solar workers to produce the same amount of electric power as one coal worker. See the issue with Krugman’s argument yet?
While natural gas and technological advances in fracking have certainly contributed to the market shift away from fossil fuels, Morano argued that “there was also a deadly effective ‘war on coal’ unleashed by the Obama administration and continued by the Biden administration.”
Last year, energy journalist Robert Bryce also undercut the “Western conceit” of a phony energy transition that Krugman made the centerpiece of his thesis: “[D]espite massive federal subsidies and numerous mandates at the local and state levels, wind and solar energy aren’t keeping pace with the growth in natural gas.”
Bryce further wrote that “The U.S. and Western European countries are spending hundreds of billions of dollars on programs like the Inflation Reduction Act and the [German] Energiewende to fund buildouts of solar, wind, batteries, and tutti-fruity-colored hydrogen, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world will do the same.”
Kind of hard to argue that it was just market forces phasing out coal when one sector was getting pumped with hundreds of billions of dollars in subsidies while another was being stymied by intentional overregulation, eh Krugman?

the cuts to National Public Radio’s taxpayer funding have definitely been a long time coming. The leftist outlet is blaming climate change (there’s a surprise) for — wait for it — a lot of rain, in summertime!
[pix]
“Climate change is fueling brutal rainstorms. Here's how to stay safe,” read the ridiculous headline for NPR’s July 15 Consider This podcast by All Things Consideredco-host Juana Summers (ironic) and Climate Desk correspondent Michael Copley, both of whom are not scientists.
Of course, Summers exploited the Texas flood disasters as a springboard to blame rainfall and recent flooding writ large in the U.S. as being a byproduct of the left’s eternal boogeyman: climate change. “So why is climate change expected to make extreme rainstorms like the ones we've seen this month more common,” Summers teased. “To dig into that question and what people can do to prepare, I spoke with Michael Copley from NPR's climate desk.”
Copley then went for the typical climate activist drivel: blame the darn humans! “So people keep releasing a ton of greenhouse gas emissions, mainly from burning fossil fuels like coal and oil, and that's raising global temperatures and fueling more intense rainstorms that drop more water in shorter periods of time,” he spewed. What’s telling is that he said the quiet part out loud when he prefaced his statement by admitting,“So in general, a warmer atmosphere holds more moisture.” No kidding, Sherlock! But he insisted that “we're going to see more extreme weather events as the Earth keeps heating up, and that's going to pose bigger threats to people and their homes and cities.”
Climate Depot Founder Marc Morano blasted NPR's eco-fanaticism in comments to MRC Business. "Listening to or reading climate 'news' from NPR was a throwback experience to the days when the U.S. actually funded such tripe. Oh, wait! We still do," Morano rebuked. "But as of July 17, it looks like the days of U.S. taxpayers footing the bill for utter climate garbage are severely numbered."
Morano then tore apart NPR's arguments to shreds:
NPR rehashes all the same old scare tactics about extreme weather and, in particular, how 'climate change is fueling brutal rainstorms.' There is just one glaring problem with NPR's reporting. Even the United Nations' climate reports don't agree with the soon-to-be defunded network. On climate timescales, flooding and flash floods are not increasing globally, nationally, or locally in Texas, contrary to NPR claims.
Further, noted Morano, "the United Nations, the US federal National Climate Assessment, and peer-reviewed studies all show that extreme weather, ranging from hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and droughts, is not increasing on climate timescales of 30, 50, or 100 years."
As CO2 Coalition Science and Research Associate Vijay Jayaraj wrote in an April 21 op-ed using monsoon-afflicted India as a case study for summer climate, “The average annual rainfall between 2000 and 2023 shows us that there is no crisis. The early 2000s experienced several significantly wet years, with 2003 recording nearly 49 inches of precipitation.” In addition, wrote Jayaraj, “From the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, there was a notable decline in rainfall, with 2009 being especially arid.”
What the data indicates is that there is “no discernible trend of increasing or decreasing precipitation throughout the period.” The overarching principle, Jayaraj concluded, was that “climate fluctuates” in summer. Did Summers or Copley consider that possibility? Probably not.
So what’s Copley’s solution to the climate problem? Ah yes, just throw an ungodly bunch of tax money at it: “[Columbia Business School climate economist Gernot] Wagner says communities need to invest billions and billions to deal with more extreme weather.”

Monsoon mayhem: Why lashing rains wreak havoc annually in India's cities
...But experts say climate change has made erratic weather - such as unseasonal rains, flash floods and droughts linked to extreme heat - a more regular phenomenon, directly affecting millions of people.
This year the monsoon arrived a week early in parts of southern India, catching authorities unprepared.
"A depression developed over the eastern central Arabian Sea which was instrumental in pulling up the monsoon current," says Mahesh Palawat, vice-president of meteorology and climate change at weather forecasting company Skymet.
In Delhi, the Minto bridge has become a symbol of the city's annual monsoon chaos. Almost every year, after heavy rain, a bus or lorry gets stuck under the bridge - an image that highlights the city's struggle with urban flooding.
This year, Delhi recorded its wettest May since 1901, with more than 185mm of rainfall, according to the Indian weather department.

Summertime Reality Twisted Into Climate Exasperation
By Vijay Jayaraj
Growing up in the sun-scorched plains of Southern India, where summer temperatures often flirt with 104 degrees Fahrenheit, I learned early that extreme heat is not an anomaly but a seasonal reality to be expected. Yet, all of us confront the metaphorical heat of relentless rhetoric from climate alarmists who insist our planet is overheating beyond the point of salvaging.
In Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore), the city I now call home, climate narratives often echo global hysteria. Headlines scream of “record-breaking heat” and “unlivable cities,” yet the data – raw, unfiltered and grounded in reality – tell a different story, one that challenges the hyperbole regularly sweeping over the public.
On average, a Bengaluru March experiences 17 days where temperatures reach or exceed 93 degrees. This year has been no different. We recorded exactly 17 days of 93 degrees or above in March – right on par with the 15-year average. Far from the apocalyptic predictions of endless heatwaves, this summer has been, in a word, normal.
Over the past 15 years, from 2010 to 2024, temperature records for the months of February through May show us that there is no summer crisis. The entire summer of 2018, for instance, had only 23 days above 93 degrees, whereas 2023 had 30 days. In contrast, 2016 had 76 days. Does this indicate an existential crisis? Or does it simply affirm that climate fluctuates? It is the latter.
Climate Alarmism: A Manufactured Crisis?
It is not just temperatures. The broader climate narrative is laced with outlandish predictions that fail to materialize. The “end of snow” prophecy, the vanishing of Arctic ice by 2013, and the frequent claims of “hottest year ever” – all have proven misleading at best, deceptive at worst.
Consider rainfall patterns in India, which have a major influence on the livelihood of 1.3 billion people. There is a significant year-to-year variability in precipitation, which is typical of India because of the unpredictable nature of monsoons.
The average annual rainfall between 2000 and 2023 shows us that there is no crisis. The early 2000s experienced several significantly wet years, with 2003 recording nearly 49 inches of precipitation. From the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, there was a notable decline in rainfall, with 2009 being especially arid. The latter segment of the dataset, spanning from 2019 to 2022, indicates a duration of consistently elevated rainfall levels.
There is no discernible linear trend of increasing or decreasing precipitation throughout the period. The data reveal fluctuations between wetter and drier years. This variability underscores the intricate nature of India’s monsoon system and its susceptibility to diverse climatic factors.
Now, imagine asking the city’s 14 million residents to relinquish their ambitions for an uninterrupted power supply based on coal as a fuel in favor of unreliable “green” technologies such as wind turbines to address a fabricated climate crisis.
Sadly, such requests are made by activists and media outlets that peddle worst-case scenarios as inevitabilities, ignoring historical weather records and honest science. The result? A public psyche primed to view every warm day as a portent of apocalypse.
Individuals are not only subjected to feelings of guilt regarding the supposed degradation of the Earth’s climate, but they are also deceived into thinking that erratic wind and daytime solar energy can supply baseload electricity required by their urban and industrial centers.
The truth is summers are hot, particularly in the middle latitudes of my city. And there is nothing the climate industrial complex can, or should, do about it.
This commentary was first published at California Globe on April 21, 2025.

Climate COVID? The Guardian Insists ‘Next Pandemic’ May Come From … ‘Melting Glaciers’
Joseph Vazquez
October 19th, 2022
It’s happened. The eco-crazies in the liberal media are trying to mesh climate change and the pandemic into one big fear porn monstrosity.
The Guardian released a nutty story Oct. 18 propagandizing how “[t]he next pandemic may come not from bats or birds but from matter in melting ice, according to new data.”
The liberal outlet tried to frighten readers into believing in the imaginary specter of climate COVID: “The findings imply that as global temperatures rise owing to climate change, it becomes more likely that viruses and bacteria locked up in glaciers and permafrost could reawaken and infect local wildlife, particularly as their range also shifts closer to the poles.”
The headline for the article didn’t beat around the bush: “Next pandemic may come from melting glaciers, new data shows.”
The Guardian, however, conceded a glaring contradiction that upended its fear-mongering, which it conveniently chose to bury in the eighth paragraph. The scientists the outlet cited apparently didn’t bother determining whether the so-called “viruses” trapped in the ice were even capable of triggering infections:
The team did not quantify how many of the viruses they identified were previously unknown – something they plan to do in the coming months – nor did they assess whether these viruses were capable of triggering an infection, [emphasis added].
Climate Depot founder Marc Morano ripped The Guardian’s nonsense as a media precursor to legitimizing government-mandated climate lockdowns similar to the 2020 COVID-19 restrictions.
“Unchecked climate change leads to more deadly viruses,” Morano told MRC Business. “Presto! Climate change becomes a public health issue subject to undemocratic dictates by unelected bureaucrats.”
He’s right on target.
The Guardian’s climatepropagandizingfalls right in line with a 2020 Project Syndicate piece that pushed an eco-dystopian idea from economist Marianna Muzzacato. That 2020 story exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to make the case that the world may need a “climate lockdown” to preempt climate change unless the world undergoes a “green economic transformation.”
The Guardian is seeking to legitimize those same dystopian ideals by “morphing climate and viruses into one issue,” Morano noted. “Climate activists were at first jealous of the COVID lockdowns then they decided to copy the same methods."
Morano pointed to a Yahoo! News article that noted “[s]ome environmental advocacy organizations have been urging Biden to declare climate change a national emergency ever since he won the presidency.” Center for Biological Diversity Energy Justice Program Director and Senior Attorney Jean Su reportedly told Yahoo! thatif Biden were to declare “‘a national [climate] emergency, it triggers the ability for him to deploy around 130 different powers.’”
Morano added that climate activists are operating with intent to “[b]ypass democracy and rule by abuse of emergency powers." He continued: “That is the lesson that COVID taught the climate activists.”
Conservatives are under attack. Contact The Guardian at guardian.readers@theguardian.com and demand it stop exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic to push climate propaganda.

INSANE: NYT Essay Praised Sky-High Inflation Because It’ll Make Our Diets Climate-Conscious
Joseph Vazquez
June 9th, 2022
The New York Times had the gall to publish an essay that tried to paint skyrocketing consumer prices as a good thing because it will make Americans’ diets more eco-friendly.
Journalist Annaliese Griffin praised in a June 2 write-up for The Times how “Inflation has the potential to drive welcome change for the planet if Americans think differently about the way they eat.” Griffin spun the skyrocketing prices of meat, poultry, fish and eggs as a positive because they’re allegedly pushing Americans into vegan and vegetarian diets.
While ironically admitting that “hunger and food insecurity are a very real problem in the United States and globally,” she still spun that “middle- and upper-class Americans still have more choices at the grocery store than perhaps any food shoppers in history.” This is what happens when the left attempts a hot take: babbling nonsense.
Griffin even mourned that climate change in itself wasn’t doing enough to spur change in people’s eating habits. “Climate change has motivated some to eat less resource-intensive meat and more vegetables, grains and legumes, but this movement has not reached the scale necessary to bring needed change — yet.” Looks like inflation, according to Griffin’s bizarre logic, may do the trick and bring the “needed change” she clamored for in her essay.
But it got worse.
Griffin continued fawning over how “[i]nflation resulting from the cost of fuel and feed, coupled with supply chain slowdowns, may make meat substitutes more affordable relative to traditional, factory-farmed meats.”
But Griffin couldn’t stop. She went as far as spinning the atrocious 1970s stagflation era as a case study on the benefits of an inflation-plagued economy: “The 1970s brought us brown rice, granola, exciting vegetables like eggplant and zucchini, and every conceivable way to prepare a lentil.”
Climate Depot founder Marc Morano slammed Griffin’s absurd argument in exclusive comments to MRC Business: “The New York Times seems bent on updating Gordon Gekko's phrase from the 1987 film Wall Street: Chaos, for lack of a better word, is GOOD,” Morano wrote “Climate activists in academia, the Biden admin. and the media seem tothink the more humans suffer, the more the planet will benefit.”
Morano noted Griffin’s argument “is more evidence that economic calamity, debt, inflation, supply chain issues, and skyrocketing meat and energy costs are not the unintended consequences of the climate agenda.” In Morano’s view, the skyrocketing costs of necessities such as meat are “the INTENDED consequences,” as he noted, “Chaos conditions the public to accept more centralized control of their lives.”
Morano was on point.
Griffin continued, trying to convince readers to set their eyes on the “culinary legacy” the near-40-year-high inflation crisis will bring to America's dietary habits: “Freed from having meat in every meal and with a world of recipes at our fingertips, what will the delicious culinary legacy of this inflationary period be?”
Conservatives are under attack. Contact The New York Times at 1-800-698-4637 and demand it quit publishing content that tries to spin the 40-year-high inflation crisis as a positive development.
