Meshuggah

According to wikipedia, "Chaos magic, also spelled chaos magick, is a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magick_%28paranormal%29#20th_century" title="Magick (paranormal)" class="mw-redirect">postmodern magical tradition</a> which emphasizes the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pragmatism" title="Pragmatism">pragmatic</a> use of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belief_system" title="Belief system" class="mw-redirect">belief systems</a> and the creation of new and unorthodox methods.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_magic#cite_note-New_Encyclopedia_of_the_Occult-1">[1]</a>"

That said, nobody can deny Meshuggah's pioneering and unorthodox guitar playing, especially since they helped popularize the 8-string guitar.

Admittedly, to this day they remain one of my main musical influences... but I do find the use of that logo/symbol (and album name) to be odd, to say the least. Though, now that I take a step back and remember a few interesting tidbits, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised considering the following:

<li>They have song titles like "Pineal Gland Optics" and "Closed Eye Visuals".  This is relevant because psychedelics are an integral component of transhumanism, as far as I can tell from my own research and from David Livingstone's and Jan Irvin's.</li>

<li>They've toured with Tool who are also heavily influenced by psychedelics and Tool's musical influence is evident on Meshuggah's newer work.</li>

<li>Meshuggah's name means "crazy" or "insane"... not crazy guitar playing but rather "crazy man or woman"

<li>Their "I Am Colossus" music video begins with a pyramid-shaped door exploding open before 3 demonic figures pass through.  The figures are mostly dark and have large heads.  The brightest parts of the figures are their heads. Hence, when one of these figures stand in front of the dark pyramid-shaped door most of what you see inside the pyramid is dark except for the top part due to the figure's bright head.  This could symbolise the all-seeing-eye, since it is the eye that takes in light.</li>

<li>Later one of the figures uses a triangle shaped key to unlock a door.  The figures enter and the following scenes involve what appears to be demonic possesion.</li>

<li>Another scene opens with more pyramid symbolism via the head superimposed near the top of what appears to be a triangular shaped window.</li>

<li>Then the 3 figures engage in what appears to be a strange self-destructive ritual while standing on a spinning circle before they merge into a triangle and transform/explode into a giant and slightly more human-shaped figure.  Throughout the entire music video all of this is juxtaposed with an image of a human heart which gradually blackens and finally becomes most black at the same time that the figures explode/transform.  Could the message be similar to the "cremation of care" ceremony at Bohemian Grove?  Is the sinister video telling us that the road to Godhood is the act of abandoning free will and giving up our hearts/compassion?  If that's not the message of this bizarre video then I cannot make any sense of it.</li>

Needless to say, this warrants further investigation, whether or not these artists consciously have nefarious intentions.  At this point, however, given the lyrical content and the cryptic/demonic nature of these music video it is becoming increasingly apparent that they take the occult very seriously.
