Affinities

The Affinities are the names for the resistance fighters who aligned with the Swords of the Sion, accepting the Knights in roles of leadership due to their much more seasoned combat experience. Most of the Resistance cells throughout the Veldt eventually were incorporated into the Affinities, with the exception of isolated Tyre and littoral zones, which coallesed into the Popular Front. The notable exception was the Popular Front in Tyre and the littoral areas, who had much more overt political aspirations.

Though the Au’Kael resistance fighters initially did not much trust the Knights, seeing them as yet more outsiders, their views changed over time, particularly after the Defense of the Red Hills and the Battle of Blackford, which did much to engender great respect for the Knights throughout the Veldt. Using their much more extensive experience, the Knights were able to train and organize the disperate resistance cells into an effective fighting force, which drove the Free Companies out of the Veldt over the course of a year.

After the war, the Affinities were disbanded, though many members either joined the Swords, or were folded into the new Eastern Kael Defense Force.
