Focal Plane
The focal plane of a telescope or optical system is the the plane where all the incoming light rays converge and come to a focus. It is the point in space where the collected light is concentrated and forms an image of the observed object.
This is where cameras, detectors, or other imaging devices are placed to capture and record the image produced by the telescope. The quality and characteristics of the focal plane image are essential for the clarity and detail of the observations made through the telescope.
