Eluding publicity, autograph seekers, and reporters, Bette Davis, one of Hollywood's most beautiful and talented actresses, in a party of four quietly drove up to Johnson's cabin camp Thursday evening and asked for a reservation. Bill Horn, operator of the adjacent Shell station won't admit it, but thought he recognized her, so tried the "Haven't I seen you somewhere" angle."I believe so" was the only answer offered by the young lady in the slacks and yellow sweater. Later the visitor came in to put in a phone call to New York, paying the bill with traveler's check signed "Bette Davis". The only recognition of her name on the register was the word "party" as the book was signed "Mr. & Mrs. Bryen and party"."Evidently, the party had been stopping at tourist camps on their way from New York to the west coast from indications of their equipment and luggage," said A.H. Johnson, proprietor of the camp. "They expressed satisfaction with our cabins." The noted actress and her friends had dinner Thursday evening at the Cheney Bakery and left early Friday morning for Mt Rainer.
