Human Factors (HF) relates to the interface of humans and the systems they are using (or will use) - intention is to create systems that support high performance of humans both designing the system and operating in the system

HF is premised on human centred design principles

100’s of tools and methods to apply - expert technical domain

Knowing the context for application is critical to select a suitable method.

A method provides the underlying principles or rules that need to be applied in completing an operation, whereas a tool is a specific instrument that is based within a method to achieve a particular aim.

as products are digitised and the design of work changes (e.g. gig economy, crowd sourced skills), the design of tools for HFE analysis will also need to change.
