Pallas Athena, ATTEMPTED RAPE

She was known as Athena Parthenos "Athena the Virgin", but in one archaic Attic myth,

the god Hephaestus tried and failed to rape her, resulting in Gaia giving birth to Erichthonius,

an important Athenian founding hero.
