Myonectin (CTRP15)
Myonectin (CTRP15) is a myokine that helps skeletal muscle communicate with other metabolic compartments, such as the liver and adipose tissue. It's also known as C1q/TNF-related protein 15/erythroferrone.
Myonectin is secreted from muscles and adipocytes. Its expression and circulating levels are regulated by: Diet, Metabolic state, Exercise.
Myonectin is an exercise-induced myokine that can help with:
- Suppressing apoptosis
- Suppressing inflammation
- Ameliorating acute ischemic injury in the heart
Myonectin links skeletal muscle to lipid homeostasis in the liver and adipose tissue.
Myonectin (CTRP15), a novel myokine that links skeletal muscle to systemic lipid homeostasis
Myonectin deletion promotes adipose fat storage and reduces liver steatosis
