As of late September, 2020 there has been an inflection point in confirmed cases in the USA around Sept. 7-8. Two states with big numbers are Texas and Arizona. Huge numbers of infections in India and Europe. Stay vigilant. Technically this would be the third wave, but it might be muted if its the same virus and we're approaching herd immunity.
Different people use the term "wave" differently. Below its shown according to epidemiological inflection points of cases. What muddies the waters is how does that play with hospitalizations. There still isn't a good data set for that, but it doesn't appear to have a big uptick in hospitalizations.
Oct. 2020 Video: Change In Seroprevalence Of Asymptomatic SARSCoV-2 During A Second COVID Wave: The Tokyo Experience - A new study is out looking at the change in the seroprevalence of asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 in a population from May to August of 2020 during what was described as a second wave of COVID-19. What really makes this study unique though is that they tested the same individuals 3-5 weeks apart. What we see is a tremendous increase in seroprevalence in this population from around 5% to 45% during this time period from May to August. Their total fatalities though in this same time period were only 33. How does this add up? Is it representative of the larger population? Can it be extrapolated to other countries or cities? How many of these people sero-reverted from antibody positive to antibody negative?

The number to pay attention to in your area is hospitalizations. You get that from local news. If those numbers are going up it indicates we have a much bigger problem.
