Ligstroside

Ligstroside is a phenolic compound found in olive trees. It is a plant metabolite and antineoplastic agent. Ligstroside has anti-inflammatory properties. It can inhibit the COX-1 enzyme, which is involved in arachidonate cascade metabolism. Ligstroside can also increase the expression of SIRT1, CREB1, complex I, and GPx1.

Ligstroside aglycone (LA) is a polyphenol found in extra virgin olive oil. It is also known as p-HPEA-Elenolic acid. LA has antioxidant properties. It can prevent inflammation by regulating signaling pathways in macrophages. Ligstroside aglycone may be a nutraceutical for treating osteoarthritis.
