Small amounts used in cooking are generally safe but do not use internally in medicinal doses during pregnancy.

It is severly irritating to mucous membranes and strongly sensitizing.

Contact dermatitis due to a massage liniment containing *Inula helenium extract*

Caution:Its a uterine stimulant so its contraindicated during pregnancy

Overdose

Larger amounts lead to vomiting, diarrhea, spasms and signs of paralysis. Following gastric lavage, intestinal emptying (sodium sulfate) and the administration of activated charcoal powder, poisoning is treated with the antiemetic trifluopromazine.
