Error during Brain restoration from brainzip (corrupt database) #99852
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/99852
Hello Gianfranco,
Thank you for sending the logs and error reports.
From the information in the logs, it appears that the local Brain database on your computer has become corrupted. When this happens, attempting to restore a Brain from a .brainzip file can fail because the restore process is trying to write into a damaged database.
The best solution is to reset the local database and start with a clean environment before restoring the Brain.
Please try the following steps.
• Quit TheBrain if it is currently running.
• Open File Explorer.
• Navigate to your Brains folder. It is usually located in one of these locations:
C:\Users\[your username]\Brains
or
C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\Brains
• Locate the folder named Brains.
• Rename the folder Brains to BrainsOld.
Next we will reset the metadata database.
• Press Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
• Enter the following path and press Enter:
%LocalAppData%\TheBrain\MetaDB
• Locate the file TheBrainMeta.db.
• Rename it to TheBrainMeta.db.old.
• Start TheBrain again.
The application should now start with a clean configuration. After that you can either:
• re-download your synced Brains from the server, or
• restore your Brain again from the .brainzip file.
If the restore still produces an error, please send us a screenshot of the message and we will take another look.
Best regards,
John
