Metadb reset #97100
https://thebrain.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/97100
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out.
It sounds like the issue may be related to your local metadata database, this handles information like sync status, indexing, and local preferences. If that file becomes corrupted, it can lead to unexpected behavior, even if your actual Brain data is intact.
To resolve this, please try a MetaDB reset. This clears the local metadata cache and forces TheBrain to rebuild it from scratch. Your Brains themselves won’t be affected, only the configuration data will be refreshed.
Step: Perform a MetaDB reset
- Close TheBrain completely.
- Navigate to the following location:
C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\TheBrain\MetaDB
(You may need to enable “Show hidden items” in File Explorer to see the AppData folder.)
- Locate the file named
TheBrainMeta.dband rename it toTheBrainMeta.db.old
- Restart TheBrain and log in again
Once you restart, TheBrain will generate a fresh metadata file.
Let me know once you’ve had a chance to try that, or if anything comes up during the process.
Best regards,
John
