LINES — PARAMETERS / ORDER / READABILITY
LINES — PARAMETERS / ORDER / READABILITY
BASIC SCORE
A group forms a line according to one parameter without naming it; audience attempts to read it.
FIRST PARAMETER
HEIGHT.
LATER PARAMETERS
Anatomy, age, geography, language, experience, mood or invisible biography.
PERFORMANCE TASK
Performers decide what makes ordering legible and avoid unrelated cleverness.
AUDIENCE TASK
Audience searches for pattern, hierarchy, cause, order and meaning.
PERFORMANCE MODEL
Reality appears chaotic; performers impose provisional order; audience decodes it.
VISIBLE / INVISIBLE
Parameters may be written visibly on the body or require gesture, speech, orientation or coding.
POLITICAL TENSION
Sorting bodies may reveal judgment, hierarchy, cultural classification and authoritarian visual logic. The Day 6 proposal acknowledged this discomfort.
