Cerebro AI Assistant
Cerebro is the AI assistant built into TheBrain. It answers questions and can act on your brain for you, such as creating thoughts and writing notes. These topics cover chatting with Cerebro, the tools it uses and the permissions you give it, saved conversations, AI Scripts, AI settings, and usage limits.
- Cerebro — TheBrain's AI Assistant — Cerebro is TheBrain's built-in AI assistant — chat in plain language to ask questions and have it make changes in your brain for you, turn on web search in the chat, stop or continue a response, and undo what it changed.
- Cerebro Tools and Permissions — Cerebro acts on your brain through tools for thoughts, links, notes, tags, pins, BrainBox and attachments, including reading PDF and Word files; you decide which run freely, which ask first, and which are blocked, in Settings or from the chat.
- Cerebro Chat History — Cerebro saves your conversations automatically — reopen, search, rename or delete them from History in the AI Chat header; they are saved online with your account, except a conversation started with a local model, which stays on that device.
- AI Scripts — Save reusable AI instructions as scripts you can run on demand, with parameters and conditions for repeatable, one-step AI tasks.
- AI Settings — Turn AI on or off, control whether it can read private thoughts, and connect your own OpenAI key or use a local AI endpoint such as LM Studio or Ollama with TheBrain; local AI is available in the desktop app only, not in the web app or on phones.
- AI Usage Limits — Cerebro's cloud AI is metered across hourly, daily, and weekly windows; usage bars show where you stand, and limits reset over time.
