Featured and Public Brains
Overview
Beyond your own brains, TheBrain showcases featured public brains — brains that others have made public for anyone to explore. They're a good way to see what a fully built-out brain looks like and to browse interesting collections of knowledge without creating anything yourself.
Where to Find Them
Featured public brains appear in TheBrain on the web, whenever there are brains to feature. The installed desktop and mobile apps don't list them, so open TheBrain in a browser to explore them.
- Before you sign in, the welcome screen lists them under Explore someone else's brain... (see Welcome and First Launch).
- When you're signed in but don't have any brains yet, the brains list shows a Featured Public Brains section below the welcome message so you can explore right away.
- Once you have brains of your own, Featured Public Brains is an entry with a globe icon in the brains list's Library sidebar, or a tab across the top of the list when the sidebar is hidden. Select it to browse the curated collection.
Select one to open it. You're browsing it read-only — you can navigate its thoughts, notes, and attachments, but you can't change it, since it isn't yours. To keep a featured brain at hand, right-click it in the brains list (long-press on a touch screen) and choose Favorite Brain: it is then listed with your own brains (see The Brains List).
- To widen your search to include public brains, see Searching Other and Public Brains.
- To make one of your brains public so others can find it, see Brain Access and Sharing.
