Device Settings
These settings are under Device in the settings dialog of the desktop and mobile apps, and most of them are in the desktop app only. They apply to the device you are using rather than to your account or to a brain.
- Tray Icon, Quitting, and Starting at Login — On the desktop app, TheBrain keeps running in the tray after you close its last window; quit it completely from the tray icon or with Exit, and use Settings > Device > General to stop it staying in the tray or to start it hidden when you log in.
- Network and Proxy Settings — On the desktop app, Settings > Device > Network lets TheBrain connect through a proxy server — enter the proxy's address and port, plus a username and password if your company's proxy requires them.
- Storage Location — On the desktop app, see where your brains are stored by default and move them to another folder, which must be empty and have a short path — keeping the data off network shares and synced folders.
- Signing In to a Private Server — In the desktop and mobile apps, the Manage Servers button on the login screen lets you add your organization's own TheBrain server and choose it before you log in; most people only need the default server, TheBrain Cloud.
