Quick Start
DiscoveryNow is a growing collection of resources curated and shared within a dynamic and interactive interface called TheBrain. The following hints and tips provide a quick introduction to using, and navigating within, this resource library.
Optimal Display
DiscoveryNow's unique interface is best viewed (and easiest to navigate) on a desktop or laptop screen with the browser window opened into full view.
Thoughts and Plex | Thought Relationships
Each page in this website is called a "thought".
- See the individual nodes (pages) in the adjacent navigation screen (with the multi-color background), which is called the "plex".
The "active" thought, located in the center of the plex, corresponds with the text located in the note panel you are currently reading.
- For example, In the current view of the plex, the active thought is Quick Start.
All the other thoughts displayed in the plex are either directly or indirectly related to this active thought.
Thought Names and Thought Labels | Display Options
If you cannot view a full thought name within the plex, simply hover your mouse over the truncated (partially hidden) thought name in the plex, and the FULL thought name will automatically display on hover.
- Resizing the interface display can also improve the legibility of thought names.
The thought label is an (optional) description of the thought located at the top of this note panel.
- The label on this "Quick Start " thought is Getting Started Guide.
- Thought labels are also visible on hover in the plex.
Dynamic Navigation | Navigation Options
Each of the nodes in the adjacent plex is a clickable link that will take you to a new thought (page) within the library.
When you click on any inactive thought (not located in the center of the plex), this thought will immediately become "active" and move to the center of the navigation screen, at which point new content, corresponding with this new active thought, will display in this note panel.
In addition, a new set of linked and related thoughts will display in the plex, and a new URL will display in the browser, which can easily be copied and shared with others (see details below).
Sharing Thoughts | Opening New Tabs & Windows
You can easily copy and share links to individual thoughts within the library by using the "Share" (arrow) icon that will appear when you hover over the title of any note within the library:

Alternatively, you can also right-click on any thought in the adjacent navigation screen, and select "Copy Web Thought URL".
For your convenience, you can also use this same context menu to open thoughts in a new tab or a new window, while you are exploring the library.
Synced Updates | TheBrain
If you occasionally see thoughts in the plex flash or flicker slightly, or if the notes suddenly change while you are exploring the library, this simply means I'm working in the desktop version of DiscoveryNow, and I just now synced to upload new and/or updated content.
Note: This sync process will not interfere with your viewing experience or your navigation history.
