After removing link then create loses focus

Based on the context of troubleshooting TheBrain v15, the behavior we are describing points to a classic focus-stealing or selection-loss bug related to how the application updates its internal database and user interface simultaneously.
Here is a breakdown of exactly what is happening under the hood when the focus jumps away:
1. The Trigger: State Conflict After Deletion
- When you remove a link from a text note that pointed to a specific thought, TheBrain has to immediately do two things:
- Update the visual text editor (remove the hyperlink styling).
- Update the underlying database graph (sever the connection/backlink between that note and the "wrong" thought).
2. The Conflict: The Graph "Steals" the Focus
The Brain's interface is highly reactive. When the link is severed, the plex (the visual graph) or the history list often auto-refreshes to reflect that the thought is no longer linked to that note.
Because TheBrain coordinates the Note Editor and the Plex/Thought List simultaneously:
- The Re-indexing Jump: As you clear the old link and highlight new text, the background auto-save or re-indexing routine kicks in.
- Loss of Selection: When the application pushes the update to the graph, it accidentally forces a global UI refresh. This causes the Note Editor to momentarily lose "active focus," breaking your text selection and jumping the cursor either to the top of the note, the search bar, or back to the currently active thought in the plex.
How to Work Around It Temporarily
If this bug is actively disrupting your workflow in v15, you can usually bypass it with these troubleshooting steps:
- The "Buffer Click" Method: After removing the wrong link, click completely outside the text area (e.g., click a blank space in the note background or switch thoughts and come back) before attempting to highlight the text for the new link. This forces the database to complete its sync before you start your next action.
- Use Keyboard Shortcuts: Instead of using the mouse to highlight and right-click (which heavily relies on UI focus), try using
Shift + Arrow Keysto highlight the text, and immediately pressCtrl + K(orCmd + Kon Mac) to trigger the link dialog before the UI has a chance to refresh away.
- Toggle "Auto-Load" Settings: Check your Preferences to see if changing how aggressively the Plex updates or syncs reduces the frequency of the editor losing focus.
