Eden and The Tabernacle
Let’s take another look at the overlay of Eden and the Tabernacle.

East of Eden is where Cain was expelled to. This is earth. Earth does not mean the big blue ball floating out in space. Earth is where man is.
Earth is where man’s law reigns.
We are going to talk about the access to the Outer Courts today. Outer Courts = East of Eden
Many people live in these outer courts. Confessing with their mouth but not with their lives. They continue to go back and forth between Outside and the Outer Courts.
These people had access to the Outer Courts. The only way they could enter is by coming to the gate with an offering.
Layout of Eden
Let’s start with the layout of the Garden of Eden. I don’t think this is really to scale. Haha, And we aren’t trying to be detail oriented, just giving a general overview so you can see some of the patterns God has established.
The Rivers

Notes:
- There are four rivers coming from Eden.
- Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
- Gen 3: So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side[e] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
- Now Adam and Eve are East of the Garden of Eden. They have Cain and Abel here. Cain kills Abel.
- Gen 4: So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod,[f] east of Eden.
- Cain is outside of Eden now. He ends up setting up a city and building the tower of Babel.

Eden was God’s home on earth. It was his residence. And where the King lives, his council meets.
Eden is described in Ezekiel 28:2 as the “seat of the gods.” The phrase should be familiar to modern readers. It speaks of governing authority (“county seat”; “Congressional seat”).
