What is it for?

Exodus 31:12-18

    - Could it be massa means in Jeremiah 17 the same as Jeremiah 23? But if you say, ‘The burden of Adonai,’” then surely Adonai says, “because you keep saying this word: ‘The burden [massa] of Adonai,’ when I sent this word to you, you are not to say ‘The burden of Adonai’—
    - The same as in Numbers 11:10-15 You have laid the burden [et massa] of all this people on me?

SHABBAT FORGOTTEN OR MAN’S SHABBAT DESTROYED:

Hosea 2:11 - The Lord would stop all the celebreations - Sabbaths because they had turned their back on Him.

  - The vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekia, kings of Judah
    - Israel had turned against YHWH/God. He did not want meaningless offereings, he detested them, could not bear the New Moons and Sabbaths and convocations.
- Amos 8:10
  - They people couldn’t wait for the Sabbath to be over so they could sell their wheat.
  - The Lord said he would turn their religious festivals into mourning.
Lamentations 2:6 - The Lord is agnry over Israel turning their back on Him.
- Zephaniah 3:18 - those who mourn because they can not celebrate the Sabbaths/feasts in excile will be gathered and rescued
Nehemiah 9
- They read the Torah then confessed and prostatrated themselves before Adonai their God. Then the Levites cried out and recounted historic events
  - YHWH/God made a covenant with Abraham gave him the lands
  - YHWH/God heard the affliction of those in Egype - gave signs and wonders against Pharoah, led them out of Egypt
  - YHWH/God descended on Mt Sinai, gave just judgements, reliable laws, and good statues and mitzvot. Made known your holy Shabbat and ordained fro them mitzvot, statues, and Torah by the and of your Servant Moses. Gave them bread from heaven, water from a rock, told them to go in and posses the land you had promised them.
  - They became arrogant, did not obey your mitzvot and did not remember your wonders. Appointed a leader to return to their bondage. Made a calf and commited great blasphemies.
  - YHWH/God did not abandon them, guided them. Gave them your good Ruach/Holy Spirit to teach them. Did not withhold manna, gave water for their thirst. Sustained them for 40 years, they lacked nothing, their garments did not wear out, their feet did not swell. You gave them their land.
  - They became contentious and rebelled against you. Cast your Torah behind their backs. Killed your prophets, committed appalling blasphemies.
  - YHWH/God delivered them into the hand of their enemies who oppressed them. They cried out to you and you heard from heaven. You gave them deliverers who rescued them.
  - As soon as they were at rest, they returned to doing evil.
  - YHWH/God abandoned them into the hand of their enemies who ruled over them.
  - They repented and cried out to you.
  - YHWH/God heard and delivered them many times. You warned them in order to turn them back to Your Torah, your mitzvot
  - They became insolent and disobeyed Your mitzvot, sinned against your ordiances - those by which if man does them he will live. They did not listen.
  - YHWH/God bore with them for many years and admonished them by your Ruach/Holy Spirit, you handed them over to the peoples of the land, nevertheless, you did not put an end to them or abandom them.
  - Our ancestors have not kept your Torah or paid attention to your mitzvot or your testimonies
  - But see, we are slaves, we are in great distress. because of this we are making a binding agreement to (10:29) walk in the Torah of God given to Moses, to keep and do all the mitzvot, along with His ordiances and His statues. We will not buy grain on Shabbath or a holy day.
