Trump has created a White House where "the buck never stops with the people who actually hold power," "a new piece from MS NOW argued, and it is a "master class" in endless blame that his Cabinet is taking to heart.
In a piece published Tuesday morning, reporter Hayes Brown detailed how Trump has made "deflecting blame for mistakes, lapses and failures ... completely normal," despite the long tradition of presidents accepting blame for their administration's shortcomings. Instead, his growing list of failed policies and ideas has been pinned on a predictable cast of scapegoats, including "underlings; Democrats (in general or specific); strawmen of any political stripe; or, in a pinch, other key members of the administration."
No mounting failure has proven more ripe for dismissal than his abysmal popularity and the effect it is set to have on the GOP in the midterms.
"Trump put on a master class of the technique during an interview with Punchbowl News last week," Brown wrote. "His abysmal polling numbers and string of unforced errors have threatened the GOP’s chances of holding control of Congress after the midterm elections. Trump insisted, though, that he isn’t the source of the problem: 'The question is, will they vote? Because a lot of them are very angry at Republicans, to be honest with you. … They’re angry at Republicans, but they’re not angry at me.'”
In response, Trump's Cabinet has proven they are "willing to take his lessons to heart," even if none of them have quite mastered the art of deflection as the president has. Under the president's model, officials have learned that "blame can be spread laterally among equals, down toward subordinates or even backward against the flow of time, but never up to the top," often leaving "Federal staffers down the chain" unable to fight back against accusations.
"Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been a skilled student in his time in office," Brown continued.
"In the early days of the war against Iran, the Pentagon chief was full of bravado and happy to take credit for what he claimed was a swift, decisive victory. As the conflict stretched out and munitions stockpiles have reportedly been massively depleted, he’s sought to duck any criticism. While begging Congress for a cash infusion to restore the military’s weapons supply, Hegseth both denied that there is even a shortage and also blamed the Biden administration for 'four years of underinvestment and mismanagement.'”
He concluded later: "Trump’s abdication of this tenet has fostered this fecundity of finger pointing. Beyond the unnecessary drama it engenders, it is simply no way to run a government. Without accountability, failures are left to fester instead of getting fixed. Trump has crafted an administration that follows his example in shirking responsibility, placing self-interest above the interests of the nation. The buck stops nowhere in Trump’s White House."

George Bush speechwriter and podcaster Tim Miller says MAGA Media “is in shambles as they're trying to circle the wagons around President Donald Trump following the … Epstein revelations.”
“You know, these folks are just grasping for anything to try to defend Trump when even in the most generous interpretation of events, he had wildly inappropriate relationship with the country's most notorious child sex trafficker, was around young women and girls — apparently, according to one of the emails — that [Epstein] was sexually abusing and trafficking, and that when he got a chance to reveal and publicize the other people who were complicit in this, he decided to cover it up,” said Miller.
Miller referenced a recent “News Nation” interview between Megyn Kelly and guest Batya Ungar-Sargon where she downplayed the allegations against Epstein.
“We have not seen some slew of young women come forward to say ‘me too’ on Donald Trump molesting them or having paid for sex with them when they were barely legal or otherwise. It just hasn't happened,” Kelly told Ungar-Sargon in replayed footage.
But Miller dismantled this argument, pointing out that he himself had interviewed Epstein victim Stacey Williams who claimed to have been groped by Trump.
“Being led into Donald's office to be groped by him was bad enough, and I probably was young enough and confused enough where maybe I was still questioning [what was happening],” Williams said. Miller included a link to that interview.
“Where have you been, Megyn Kelly? There were at least 28 women have accused Donald Trump of various acts of sexual misconduct, including rape, kissing and groping without consent. ‘You can do anything. Whatever you want. Grab ‘em by the p——,' looking under women's skirts, and yes, walking in on naked teenage pageant contestants,” Miller said.
Ungar-Sargon didn’t push back, on Kelly's claim, but instead pushed the argument that Epstein pushed his victims onto Trump and friend.
“[A] lawyer for a group of the women actually said Jeffrey Epstein would prey upon women when they were underage, … and then the lawyer said when they came of age and he was no longer interested in them, he would then pass them on,” Ungar-Sargon told Kelly.
“Sure,” said Miller. “… [W]hat was happening with these young girls was that Jeffrey Epstein was abusing them and molesting them. And then when they became 18, he would pass them off to his friends. And these sex-trafficked and groomed girls would give ... sexual massages to creepy old men who were friends with a sex trafficker. That's the spin now. That's where they're at. That's where MAGA world is. Here's our pretty picture that we'll paint on this.”
But Miller rolled out photos of Epstein victims Tila Davis and Jenna Lisa Jones, as well as Michelle Licata, (age 16) and Jennifer Araz.
“Araz was recruited at 14, assaulted at 15, and she looks like a baby,” said Miller, who then showed a photo of victim Courtney Wilde.
“If you're sitting across from them on this plane and then somebody looked over to you and was like, ‘he's … having sex with her,’ nobody would look at that and say, ‘well, it seems passably illegal.’ You would call the authorities immediately," Miller said.
“It's like looking at a Maxim magazine,” Miller said, referencing a photo collage of victims. “It's just sick. This is what Donald Trump has done to these people. He's made them sick in the brain. They can no longer have enough clarity … to be able to say, ‘you know what? I don't need to debase myself like this for this mushroom d——, f—— piece of s—— in the White House.’”
“We don't know exactly what Donald Trump's role was, but the fact that Donald Trump has been accused of sexual assault many, many times is on the public record,” said Miller. “The fact that he bragged about it is on the public record. The fact that he's trying to cover this up is something we all know. Who would want to cover up what happened to these girls?”

President Donald Trump is intensifying his efforts to thwart attempts to force the release of the Epstein files, even as the House moves toward a vote that could send disclosure legislation to his desk for his signature — or veto — further heightening scrutiny of his past ties to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
On Friday, the president announced he will ask the U.S. Department of Justice, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation “to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him.”
The New York Times reported that the “inquiry appeared to be retribution for the renewed focus on his own ties to Mr. Epstein.”
After White House officials reportedly held a Situation Room meeting with Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert on Wednesday to convince her — unsuccessfully — to remove her name from the discharge petition, the president on Friday took a different tack, appearing both to try to wash his hands of the entire ordeal while refocusing attention on his political opponents and others.
“Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat’s problem, not the Republican’s problem!” Trump railed on his Truth Social website, while attacking Democrats.
“The Democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein Hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses, especially the SHUTDOWN EMBARRASSMENT, where their party is in total disarray, and has no idea what to do,” Trump alleged.
“Some Weak Republicans have fallen into their clutches because they are soft and foolish,” the president continued. “Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat’s problem, not the Republican’s problem!”
“Ask Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, and Larry Summers about Epstein, they know all about him, don’t waste your time with Trump. I have a Country to run!”
Deadline on Friday noted that “Since the email release, Trump has avoided answering reporters’ questions about Epstein.”
Pointing to Trump’s Friday remarks, Politico’s Kyle Cheney remarked, “Trump again pleads with Republicans to stop talking about Epstein. The pressure hasn’t worked as well as it usually does. Also, the emails show Epstein was politically amorphous, deriding Ds just as much as Rs. And these latest emails were from the Epstein estate, not DOJ.”
Attorney Aaron Parnas added, “I guarantee you if Donald Trump truly believed Epstein was the ‘Democrat’s problem,’ he would have released all of the files by now.”

With the Jeffrey Epstein controversy continuing to dominate headlines, President Donald Trump is using much of the rhetoric he used during Russiagate back in 2016 and 2017 as well as during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Trump is accusing the mainstream media of pushing "fake news," railing against "the deep state," and repeatedly using the word "hoax." The president is also describing himself as the victim of a "witch hunt," a phrase he used during his two impeachments as well as when he was facing four criminal indictments.
Never Trump conservative David French, in his July 31 column for the New York Times, emphasizes that Trump and his allies are responding to the "ongoing Epstein saga by playing one of MAGA's greatest hits: the claim that Trump was the victim of a witch hunt, that the establishment attempted to destroy him even before he began his first term."
READ MORE:The one man who has the strength to finish off Donald Trump
"The (Trump) Administration's claims about the Russia investigation are designed to alter our understanding of history, to foster MAGA’s fake narrative of Trump and MAGA as perpetual victims of a maliciously corrupt 'deep state,'" French explains. "In fact, the response to the Russia story provided the template for how MAGA has responded to nearly every Trump scandal. And once you recognize the pattern, you can see it play out time and time again. It comes in four distinct steps."
Those "steps," according to French, are: (1) "redefine the scandal on the terms most favorable to Trump," (2) "lie relentlessly," (3) "ignore genuine concerns," and (4) "reverse the villains."
"Trump has run this same playbook for more than eight years," French argues. "Whether he was facing impeachment in 2019 over charges of threatening to hold back aid to Ukraine unless Ukraine investigated the Biden family or facing impeachment again over his effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election, the pattern is the same. It has worked on Republicans every single time. It works because he's telling them what they want to hear: Trump is not corrupt; his critics are."
French continues, "But for the first time since he announced his first campaign in June 2015, Trump's team has told his base something many definitely did not want to hear — and very much did not expect: that the Epstein scandal is less expansive than they thought, that there was nothing to see here. He has been flailing ever since. So it's no surprise that he turned back to the 'Russia hoax.' It was the first significant scandal of his administration, and the fight over the (Robert) Mueller investigation helped bond Trump to his base. But the real Russia hoax is the idea that there was nothing to investigate."

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is facing backlash after accusing Democrats of "blowing out the deficit in 2020" — a year when Donald Trump was president.
In an interview with CNN's Dana Bash on Sunday morning, Bessent blamed the Democratic Party for the 2020 deficit crisis, despite the fact that the Republican Party controlled the White House at the time.
His comments quickly sparked criticism and mockery on social media, with many pointing out the contradiction.

Singer-songwriter Ricky Davila wrote: "MAGA fraudster Scott Bessent falsely accused the Democratic Party of blowing out the deficit in 2020. Problem with that bulls--- accusation is that the orange felon was in office in 2020, not President Biden. They literally lie about everything."
Democratic activist Lucas Sanders wrote: "Scott Bessent: 'The Democratic Party blew out the deficit in 2020.' WHAT? Can someone tell him who was the president in 2020?"
"Does the Treasury Secretary know who controlled the White House and Senate in 2020?" wrote a user.
"MAGA always drop to the Ad Hominem attack when they're unable to defend their horrible policies," said a user on X.

"Who wants to remind him who the president was in 2020? Also, Trump is now blowing up the deficit even more than Biden ever did," wrote another.
"They love trying to rewrite history. Biden became president in Jan 2021. All the stuff they complain happened with Covid started in 2020, and they always blame that on Biden too," said another X user.
Many also criticized the host for not fact-checking Bessent.
"This is WHY Americans are so ill informed. She didn't correct him! She just ignored that and moved on. When the media talking heads don't correct the record the zombies just beleive what they hear!" remarked a user.

2024 election debate : Vance dodge question with rant on Harris censorship:
“You have said you would not have certified the last presidential election, and would have asked the states to submit alternative electors. That has been called unconstitutional and illegal,” moderator Norah O’Donnell asked Vance. “Would you again seek to challenge this year’s election results, even if every governor certifies the results?”
Vance said that instead of the threats to democracy decried by Democrats, what’s really worrying is the threat of “big technology companies silencing their fellow citizens.” Vance says Harris would like to “censor people who engage in misinformation,” and that’s “a much bigger threat to democracy than anything we’ve seen” in the last four or 40 years.
“Kamala Harris is engaged in censorship at an industrial scale,” Vance said, adding that’s a much larger threat than former President Donald Trump telling people to protest “peacefully” on January 6th at the US Capitol insurrection. Vance compared Trump’s refusal to believe the results of the 2020 election to Democrats’ concerns about Russian foreign interference in the 2016 election, where they pointed to foreign agents’ purchasing of Facebook ads as contributing to Hillary Clinton’s loss to Trump. (A Republican-led Senate committee concluded in 2020 that Russia did seek to interfere in the 2016 election to benefit Trump’s candidacy.
“January 6th was not Facebook ads,” Walz retorted, calling Vance’s version of events “revisionist history.”
Vance was apparently alluding to the events behind Murthy v. Missouri, a Supreme Court case decided earlier this year. The case covered accusations that the Biden administration coerced tech platforms to engage in censorship. Justices ruled in the Biden administration’s favor based on standing, but they also cast doubt on whether there was a meaningful connection between government outreach to platforms like Facebook and those platforms’ later moderation decisions.
Walz attempted to redirect the debate back to the original question. “Did he lose the 2020 election?” he asked Vance.
“Tim, I’m focused on the future,” Vance replied. “Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 Covid situation?”
“That is a damning non-answer,” Walz said.
“It’s a damning non-answer for you not to talk about censorship,” Vance retorted.
At another point, Vance accused Harris of wanting to “use the power of government and Big Tech to silence people from speaking their minds.” Trump himself recently suggested that some people “should be put in jail the way they talk about our judges and our justices,” referring to criticism of the Supreme Court.
Walz responded to Vance with the widely used but misleading claim that “shouting fire in a crowded theatre” is a Supreme Court test for unprotected speech. Vance didn’t dispute the premise, but he claimed “you guys wanted to kick people off of Facebook for saying that toddlers shouldn’t wear masks. That’s not fire in a crowded theatre. That is criticizing the policies of the government, which is the right of every American.”
“I don’t run Facebook,” Walz said. “This is not a debate, it’s not anything anywhere other than in Donald Trump’s world.”

One of the nation’s most prominent civil rights attorneys is denouncing Fox News co-host Greg Gutfeld’s attempt to normalize the word “Nazi,” diminish its horrific meaning, and strip it of the weight it carries. And she’s asking why so few seem outraged by his remarks.
“This is why the criticism doesn’t matter to us when you call us Nazis. ‘Nazi this,’ and ‘Nazi that,’ Gutfeld declared on Tuesday (video below) during the cable network’s show, “The Five,” in a segment where the chyron read: “Dems Smear ICE With Nazi Comparisons.”
“You know what? I’ve said this before,” he continued. “We need to learn from the Blacks — the way they were able to remove the power from the N word by using it. So, from now on, it’s, ‘What up my Nazi?’ ‘Hey, hey, what up, my Nazi?’ ‘Hey, what’s hanging my Nazi?'”
Sherrilyn Ifill, the civil rights attorney, Professor of Law, and former president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, wondered where Americans’ outrage had gone.

“Just loathsome,” Ifill wrote. “I know it’s old school, but is there no demand that Fox fire him? Losing his microphone should be the minimum.”
Others also responded.
Progressive media outlet The Tennessee Holler called Gutfeld’s remarks “One of the most tone deaf and problematic 30 seconds of TV in our history right here. This will be tough to beat.”
The Lincoln Project responded, “So they’re just fully comfortable calling themselves Nazis now. Got it.”
The House Homeland Security Committee Democrats weighed in, writing: “Greg Gutfeld is an unwatchable racist clown.”
Mehdi Hasan, editor-in-chief and CEO of Zeteo News, wrote: “These quotes, even if said in jest, would destroy the careers of any other journalist on any other mainstream national media platform. But Fox doesn’t employ journalists and doesn’t have any journalistic (or decency) standards.”

Dr. Travis L. Stokes, Ed.D., as part of a lengthy response, wrote: “Let me get this straight: you’re comparing the Black community’s centuries-long, survival-forged, trauma-laden, complex reclamation of the n-word—a term born from slavery, lynching, Jim Crow, police brutality, redlining, mass incarceration, and generational trauma—to you and your little Fox News clowns tossing around ‘Nazi’ like it’s a TikTok trend?”
Philosopher, historian, and activist, Dr. Émile P. Torres called it, “The normalization of Nazism. Happening in realtime.”
This is not the first time Gutfeld has faced backlash for remarks invoking Nazism or the Holocaust. Two years ago, Gutfeld was rebuked for comments he made about Jews, the Holocaust, and Nazis.
“Officials at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in Poland have criticized Fox News host Greg Gutfeld for saying on air that Jewish people survived Nazi concentration camps by being ‘useful’,” NBC News reported at the time.

PAMELA BROWN (CNN ANCHOR): And just be clear, these are two separate issues. There's vaccines, which are proven safe and effective, and we're going to talk more about that. But then there's the issue of chronic disease caused by, you know, the food that we're consuming, processed food and all of that, which, as you both agree on, that needs to be dealt with, that needs to be a priority, of course. Which is why in many ways, RFK Jr. has gained so much popularity among many Americans on that issue.
But I want to go to you, Calley, to respond. And also, you know, with this measles threat, isn't now a time to promote vaccines? Which, again, the CDC says safe, effective, that two doses are 90% effective against measles. Is it now a time to promote that, especially among children who are being impacted by measles in places like Texas and in these six states who are unvaccinated, according to health officials?
CALLEY MEANS (CO-FOUNDER, TRUEMED): Pamela, with respect, why aren't you asking me about the fact that 50% of teens have obesity? Why aren't there? There are.
BROWN: I have other questions for you. But we're talking about this.
[CROSSTALK]
MEANS: Day after day, Pamela. It's breathless coverage of five measles cases. Why aren't we asking why 16% of COVID deaths worldwide were Americans when we we're only 4% of the world population? Because the CDC said our immune system — no, it is related, Pamela, and let me say why. Because the entire coverage of Bobby Kennedy is around measles. The Democrats said the word measles 25 times in the first hearing and said the words obesity, diabetes, and chronic disease zero time. The HHS priority document under President Biden said the word equity 25 times, said the word vaccines countless times, did not say the word obesity or diabetes.
There is a problem right now because this is not zero — this is zero sum. We are focused on a very small subset that's important. We need good infectious disease management. Bobby Kennedy — Dr. Offit is not correct. Bobby Kennedy has said one thing about vaccines and one thing only: that they should be studied like any other product. Dr. Offit on the ACIP committee has recommended vaccines that have ended up being recalled for causing mass issues to kids. Bobby Kennedy has written multiple books not about being anti-vax, but about having good science, and Dr. Offit is calling him anti-vaccine for literally just saying we need studies. Bobby Kennedy is not concerned with measles. He wants good policies with measles. He wants to attack the 92% of deaths in United States, which is chronic conditions.

United States Congressman Ryan Zinke (R-Montana) delivered a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday in which he proclaimed that a "deep state" along with "liberals" are engaged in a sinister agenda targeting himself and other conservatives.
Prior to his election to Congress in the November 2022 midterms, Zinke served as secretary of the interior under former President Donald Trump. He resigned in December 2018 amid a flurry of ethics scandals and suspicions of corruption.
Nonetheless, on Tuesday, Zinke declared himself a victim of a vast conspiracy and endorsed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-California) proposal to create a subcommittee tasked with investigating various federal agencies that have open inquiries into Trump.

"Mister Speaker, I rise today in support of a select committee to investigate the weaponization of the federal government, something I have a lot of experience firsthand. I proudly served as the fifty-second secretary of interior, and despite thedeep state's repeatedly attempts to stop me, I stand before you as a duly elected member of the United States Congress andtell you that a deep state exists and it is perhaps the strongest covert weapon the left has against the American people," Zinke said.
"There is no doubt the federal government deep state coordinates with liberal activists and uses politicians and willing media to carry their water. The deep state runs secret messaging campaigns with one goal in mind – to increase its power to censor and persuade the American people. Dark money groups, funded by liberal billionaires and foreign investors, funnel money to shell organizations and repeatedly attempt to destroy the American West. They want to wipe out the American cowboy completely, remove public access to our lands, and turn Montana into a national park. They want to control our land and our lifestyle," Zinke alleged before claiming that he amassed so-called evidence from a right-wing non-profit.
"Mister Speaker," Zinke added, "I'd like to submit a five-part series of investigative articles by the Capitol Research Center entitled, Arabella's Long War Keep It in the Ground into the congressional record."
