at a moment when a motley crew of demonstrators, protesters, and violent urban thugs has repeatedly joined forces – not just to make known their unhappiness with the Donald Trump administration, but to bring chaos to American streets and to seek the destruction of our constitutional order – there is an urgent need to understand who is organizing, funding and leading these cabals. Their banners, placards and slogans provide incomplete answers. Indeed, it seems that many of themarchers themselves fail to understand who is pulling the strings that propel the seemingly disparate Muslim Brothers, Black Lives Matter operatives, radical feminists, anarchists and other hard leftists to coordinated confrontation with law enforcement and the rest of American society.
Unfortunately, our preparedness for confronting the array of such forces committed to the destruction of traditional Western values and civilization as enshrined in the U.S. Constitution has faltered badly in the years since the attacks of September 11, 2001. That is due, in no small measure, ironically to the successful influence operations waged against our national security leadership by adherents to the same ideology that animated the attacks of that fateful day: Islam’s Sharia doctrine. As a result, that leadership has been rendered incapable of confronting these enemies by name, identifying accurately what impels them, let alone achieving a decisive victory over them and their ideology.
As Matthew Vadum persuasively documents inTeam Jihad: How Sharia-Supremacists Collaborate with Leftists to Destroy the United States, the jihadists’ success in this regard is not entirely attributable to the seductiveness of their information and influence operations. They owe much to the decades-long march of cultural Marxism through the key pillars of American society: academia, faith communities, government (especially national security), law enforcement, and media.
After all, it was communist, leftist, and progressive operatives who successfully promoted the notion that the Judeo-Christian principles laid down by the Founding Fathers were, at best, outmoded and, at worst, a force for ill in the world. In this shared antipathy to the traditional religious values that inspired and nurtured Western civilization, Islam and the left found grounds to make common cause: They could set aside their own divergent ideologies and desired end states for the time being and join forces to bring down America.
The emergence of the contemporary Red-Green axis coincided with – and contributed to – the undoing of a counterintelligence mindset in official U.S. circles. Effectively neutralized was any appreciation of the threat posed by influence operations and, in particular, their perpetrators inside the United States. These dynamics contributed greatly to the collapse of our Intelligence Community’s ability to protect against hostile propaganda, whether of the communist or taqiyya varieties, and subversive infiltration by their practitioners.
That vulnerability was made all the more ominous by the ties between Western leftists and jihadists who were recruited, trained and, in some cases at least, managed by the Soviet Union and its feared security service, the KGB. Over the years, we have learned much about such operations from declassified information like the Mitrokhin Archive and the Venona Papers. Defectors like Ion Pacepa from Romania’s secret police and brilliant researchers like Diana West in American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on our Nation’s Character have illuminated howcommunist agents stoked the flames of Islamic terrorism and infiltrated deeply inside the ranks of the U.S. government.

review
“A riveting journey through the tangled web of ACORN … This is one of the most comprehensive compilations of evidence against ACORN available.” –Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa)
“A well-researched, irresistibly written book that every American should read. The criminal enterprise called ‘ACORN’ is the largest, most elusive, and most dangerous radical organization in America. If you are wondering about the operations and influence of a vast left-wing conspiracy, this is it, with tentacles that reach right into the heart of the Obama White House.” – David Horowitz, author of New York Times bestseller The Shadow Party
“I dare anyone to defend ACORN, and its radicals, after reading this book.” – Hannah Giles, Investigative Journalist
“It’s dynamite with a short fuse.” – G. Gordon Liddy, Nationally Syndicated Talk Show Host
“Through his careful research, Matthew Vadum shined a light that exposed ACORN’s corruption. For months I fought to cut off the flow of tax dollars to ACORN. In Subversion Inc. Vadum warns that despite the defunding of ACORN, the group has only feigned death.” – Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota)
About the Author
“Michelle Malkin hailed Subversion Inc. author Matthew Vadum in her bestselling expose of the Obama administration, Culture of Corruption, for having “the foresight and insight to report on the [ACORN] story when nobody else would.” Glenn Beck said he finally “got it” when Vadum appeared on his TV show to talk about ACORN and helped him draw one of his famous tree diagrams. The Washington Post recognized Vadum as an opinion maker because he “writes some of the harder edged and more influential briefings” in the conservative movement.
An award-winning investigative journalist with a lively, witty writing style, Matthew Vadum is a senior editor at Capital Research Center, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. Vadum’s work has been cited by Fox News, WND.com, Weekly Standard, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor and many other media outlets.”

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is immensely readable and informative
Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2011
Before commenting on the contents of Subversion, I need to say that this book is immensely readable. For a book containing so many documented facts, some people might think that a book like this would be somewhat dry. It is not. You will cut through the first hundred pages faster than Obama and ACORN have been cutting through our country with their socialist agendas. Matthew Vadum said in his book, he could have written 2,000 pages, but chose to make it a reasonable length for readability. I could make this review almost as long as his finished product, but I will also make it a reasonable length for readability.
Are you a straight white conservative Christian or Jewish male American citizen who believes America is the greatest country in the history of the world? Do you value the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence? Do you believe in capitalism, free market economy, equal opportunity (but NOT equal outcome), freedom, lower taxes, smaller government, making it on your own, personal privacy, giving to charities of your OWN choice and not favoring one group of people over another?
Then ACORN does NOT like you.
Do you believe in socialism, government intrusion into every aspect of your life, affirmative action, quotas, set-asides and special rights for every government approved and designated victims groups? Do you believe that indoctrination of your children and grandchildren by academia at every level, left-wing media and entertainment to get them to believe that everything which used to be normal is now abnormal and everything which used to be abnormal is now normal? Do you believe in government, via their minions, such as ACORN, should make you pay for everyone else's health care, free' housing, free' food, welfare and a hundred other programs for the poor,' the oppressed' and of course, the children,' while you struggle to keep your family's heads above water? Do you believe the very fabric of this country should be torn down and replaced by some kind of fantasy socialist utopia,' where the elites' (who envision they' know better than you' how you should run your own lives) rule and you are simply a serf, who is there to do their bidding? Do you believe in your loss of happiness, liberty and freedom? Do you believe in social justice'? Do you believe in dictatorship?
Then ACORN LOVES you.
Do any of these individual and group names ring a bell?:
Barack Obama, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Saul Alinsky, Wade Rathke, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), Weather Underground (WU), the National Welfare Rights Organization, George Wiley, Lynne Stewart, Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the Democrat Party, Bertha Lewis, Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, Project Vote, Karl Marx, the (Old and New) Black Panther Party, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger, Noam Chomsky, Tom Hayden, Cornel West, the New York Times, Al Franken, Kweisi Mfume, Chaka Fattah, Antonio Villaraigosa, Maxine Waters, Paul Begala, Dennis Kucinich, Barney Frank, Pat Leahy, Dick Durbin, Kirsten Gillibrand, Roland Burris, John Kerry, Jerrold Nadler, Deval Patrick, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Thomas Menino, Bank of America, Chase Manhattan Bank, Chemical Bank, Maude Hurd, John McCain (yes, really), Charlie Christ, Arnold Schwarzenegger (also yes, really), Ron Dellums, America Coming Together (ACT), the ACLU, the AFL-CIO, the America Federation of Teachers (AFT), the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, MoveOn, NAACP, National Education Association (NEA), La Raza, George Soros, the Open Society Institute (OSI), Planned Parenthood, Organizing for America (OFA), Rainbow PUSH, Sierra Club, Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Tides Foundationand Center, and literally hundreds of other names I could list if I had the room.
Would you like to know how all the above (listed or unlisted) are interconnected in some way? Are you interested in knowing where ACORN gets all their millions to fund their radical endeavors (besides your tax dollars)? Would it shock you to know that some of the most prestigious (and far-left) Foundations and Banks (who control hundreds of billions of dollars), either give willingly to ACORN or are extorted and threatened to do so?
Would you like to know the more than 370 groups ACORN controls? Would you like to know their entire history and how their radical tactics have allowed them to co-opt the Democratic Party and worm their way into every corner of the government bureaucracy, right up to and including the Community Organizer In Chief? Would you like to find out just how this criminal organization (and I mean criminal in the literal sense), is the cause of violent riots, sit ins, demonstrations, money laundering, takeovers of buildings and institutions, extortion, racketeering, voter fraud, harassment, intimidation, tax cheating, bullying, assault, treating their own underpaid employees like garbage and all the other ways and means they use to get their way? Ways in which North Korea, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, the Mafia, the drug cartels, organized gangs, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, the Taliban and others would all be proud to include on their resumes.
There is way more enlightening information in this book, just as jaw dropping as the above. Get this book, read it thoroughly, educate yourselves and by the time 2012 rolls around, if you vote for the same guy who's in office now, shame on you, because that means you identify and agree with everything ACORN does. Hopefully, for our country's sake, you will push that lever for anyone besides the current power structure which wants to tear down this country as we've known it since its inception.

Totalitarianism in Durham: Government officials attempt to “no-platform” Jordan Peterson

This attack on Peterson is part of a larger assault on conservatives’ free speech rights in the Trump era. Demonstrators have shut down or tried to shut down Charles Murray, Milo Yiannopoulos, Ben Shapiro, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, and David Horowitz, to name a few targets. Social media companies brazenly discriminate against conservatives and the crimes of former IRS official Lois Lerner against conservative activist groups remain unprosecuted.
Peterson is a former Harvard clinical psychology professor who is scheduled to speak Sept. 10 at the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), which is owned by the City of Durham. Contrary to local media reports, he was not invited to speak by DPAC: he rented the venue.
The date is part of a speaking tour to promote his acclaimed self-help book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos. Durham won’t be Peterson’s first appearance in an intellectually hostile left-wing urban center in the U.S. Now a professor at the University of Toronto in Canada, he has already spoken in New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Austin, Texas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland, Ore.
on “Identity Politics and the Marxist Lie of White Privilege” at a conference held last fall in Washington, D.C., helped to bring his message to a new audience and may have played a role in his meteoric rise.
The radical office-holders in charge in Durham are terrified of Peterson, what he represents, and what he might say on their turf.
Perhaps for good reason.
If you have any doubt what is motivating this fear among left-wingers, just watch Peterson’s merciless, masterful dismantling of UK’s Channel 4 reporter Cathy Newman’s tired old feminist and leftist talking points. Peterson is utterly fearless, always amply armed with facts, and intellectually intimidating.
This could help explain why Durham Mayor Pro Tempore Jillian Johnson posted a unanimously-endorsed city council statement on Facebook in hopes of creating the political pressure needed to shut Peterson down.
The bizarre document amounts to a passive-aggressive defense of free speech protections in the First Amendment. The city council claims to support Peterson’s right to express himself in public but at the same time wants him to refrain from exercising this right.
Peterson attacked the city council statement, calling it “a conceptually brutal mishmash of self-righteousness, indignation and utter moral and political confusion.” It is “one of the purest demonstrations I have yet seen of the tendency for the ideologically possessed to use denouncement tactically as a means to amplify and exaggerate personal or identity-group virtue.”
Stopping someone from speaking is called no-platforming (or sometimes de-platforming). In “Repressive Tolerance,” the late Brandeis University professor Herbert Marcuse, the so-called father of the New Left, favored shutting down non-leftists on the theory that fascists, or those merely smeared as fascists by leftists, are not entitled to free speech.
The city’s complaint begins with an attempt to intimidate Dr. Peterson, along with predictably dishonest leftist drivel about the intellectual content of his work.
We would like to be clear that we respect Mr. Peterson’s right to hold his opinions and to freely state his opinions without government interference. However, we wish to emphasize that a person’s right to free speech does not include the right to a platform or an audience. As many in our community have been disturbed and angered by Mr. Peterson’s racist, misogynist, and transphobic views, we would like to use this opportunity to reiterate our commitments and values to all of you as your elected representatives.
The smearing continues in a kind of municipal mission statement that checks off all the politically correct boxes.
We believe that Durham is a place for all of us – black, white, Asian, Latinx, indigenous, and mixed-race, trans and cis, gay and lesbian, queer, and straight, disabled and able-bodied, young and elderly, women, men, and non-binary, native and immigrant, secular and people of faith. Those who seek to exclude or deny the humanity of others will find no comfort here.
We believe that everyone in our city should have the opportunity to thrive in an equitable and inclusive community. We understand that this opportunity has been intentionally and unjustly denied to many of our residents on the basis of race, class, gender, and other aspects of their identities. We are committed to taking action to remedy these injustices.
The city council suggests that Peterson is some kind of fascistic control freak whose ideas would somehow turn America into The Handmaid’s Tale.
The city council continues implying Peterson is guilty of a laundry list of offenses, but without providing any evidence:
We believe that violence against women is horrific and unacceptable under any circumstances. Women do not owe anyone access to or any level of control over their bodies or sexuality. We honor trans and non-binary residents and believe that respecting each other requires a commitment to using the names and pronouns that each of us identifies with. We will do all that we can to ensure that trans and non-binary people feel safe and respected in our community.
We invite the Durham community to recommit ourselves to these values as a city and a community and to reject and resist bigotry wherever we encounter it.
In other words, according to this nonsense Jordan B. Peterson is an enemy of the people who must be stopped.
Peterson tore the statement apart.
“Everything that is reprehensible about the radical and ideologically-possessed left – all the moral self-righteousness, the platitudes, the clichés, the mindless celebration of diversity for the sake of the demonstration of tolerance, the naivete, and the appalling malevolence of casual denunciation – is on painful display in this missive,” he wrote.
The leftist hysteria in Durham is more than a little familiar to those of us who witnessed the Left’s apoplectic spasms over the rise of academic Camille Paglia, the refreshingly un-PC liberal lesbian whose 1990 book Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson, spurned outrage on university campuses at the time groaning under the yoke of repressive, male-hating, radical feminism.
Durham is Ground Zero for faddish leftist boycotts.
Last week at least five Durham officials aligned themselves with Antifa as they signed a letter demanding the abolition of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In April, Durham became the first American city to bar its police from training in Israel. “The Israeli Defense Forces and the Israel Police have a long history of violence and harm against Palestinian people and Jews of Color,” according to a resolution approved unanimously by the city council.
Last year the Durham City Council cheered on radical groups that unlawfully ripped down a Confederate war memorial at city hall. Prosecutions fizzled out before they even got started.
The toxic leftism of Durham officials has ruined lives.
No one will soon forget how an overzealous, racist prosecutor and scores of local academics tried to lynch three white members of the Duke University men’s lacrosse team after they were accused of the March 13, 2006 gang rape of black exotic dancer Crystal Gail Mangum that never happened. In the end, politically correct button-pusher Mike Nifong (D), the out-of-control district attorney in Durham, was disgraced, disbarred, and found guilty of contempt. Duke and Durham have never recovered from the disgraceful incident whose shadow still hangs over the community.
Clearly Durham has not learned its lesson.

After pleading guilty to a species of voter fraud in Las Vegas in April, ACORN will be sentenced Wednesday for its crimes.
ACORN was convicted of felony unlawful compensation for registration of voters. With the full knowledge of upper management, ACORN illegally offered cash bonuses to its voter registration canvassers in a scheme called “Blackjack.” Canvassers received extra money if they hit the magic number of 21 registrations in a day.
Senior ACORN executives Amy Adele Busefink and Christopher Howell Edwards were also convicted for their roles in the scheme. ACORN cared so little about the conspiracy that its voter fraud division, Project Vote, put Busefink in charge of the group’s national get-out-the-vote drive in 2010 while she was under indictment in Nevada.
Mickey Mouse, Mary Poppins, and various celebrities living and dead have been registered to vote over and over again precisely because ACORN has been allowed to get away with polluting the nation’s voter rolls for so long.
Significantly, this is the first time ACORN itself, as opposed to its individual employees, has been convicted of a crime.
But this is not the first time that ACORN has found itself in legal hot water.
Judicial Watch just uncovered massive voter fraud by ACORN in Colorado and ACORN settled a racketeering lawsuit in Ohio out of court last year and agreed to leave the state. In the settlement with the Buckeye Institute’s 1851 Center for Constitutional Law, ACORN agreed to “cease all Ohio activity” and surrender all its state business licenses.
ACORN’s other crimes are exhaustively documented in my new book, Subversion Inc.: How Obama’s ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers.
Meanwhile, here’s an interview Fox News senior reporter Eric Shawn conducted with Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller about the Las Vegas fraud case on the weekend.
ref
Judicial Watch has uncovered massive voter fraud in Colorado.
The Colorado secretary of state’s office apparently bent over backwards to accommodate the unreasonable demands of the vote fraudsters of the criminal group ACORN. Said Judicial Watch in a press release:
ACORN and its affiliate, Project Vote, successfully pressured Colorado officials to implement new policies for increasing the registration of public assistance recipients during the 2008 and 2010 election seasons. Following the policy changes, the percentage of invalid voter registration forms from Colorado public assistance agencies was four times the national average.

bradblog:
Vadum will lie about anything he needs to in order to collect his wingnut welfare paychecks apparently. American values such as democracy be damned. It's partisan politics (and paychecks) at all costs.
Vadum has, of late, taken over from the disgraced Bush/Cheney general counsel turned fake “voting rights advocate” Thor Hearne of the fake “American Center for Voting Rights” (ACVR), and the disgraced liar John Fund of the Wall Street Journal as the moment's GOP master of media misinformation meant to confuse the public about polling place Photo ID restriction laws passed by the GOP in statehouses around the country over the past few months in order to suppress the legal Democratic-leaning vote in advance of 2012.
Like Hearne and Fund before him, he's very good at his job. He's very aggressive. And there is little he is unwilling to blatantly, if cleverly, lie about to fool his gullible constituency.
Vadum's latest misinformative article, as published byTucker Carlson's The Daily Callerand, predictably, echoed around the intellectually dishonest and incurious wingnut blogosphere last week, picks up where his recently published propaganda book about ACORN leaves off.
That book, which he was kind enough to send us a copy of recently, is pitched on its cover and its publicity sheet as an exposé uncovering the truth behind the former four-decade old community organization who he describes as “Ballot Box Stuffers,” “Urban Terrorists,” and “Gangsters.”
That his silly book fails to detail even a single ballot box “stuffed” by ACORN is little surprise. There exists no actual evidence, after all, of any illegal vote ever having been cast by any voter who was improperly registered by an ACORN worker. But this is all politics as usual to partisans like Vadum. So preposterous propaganda meant to directly undermine American democracy is merely all in a days work for dudes like him.
The same disingenuous “voter fraud” sleight-of-hand used in his book is once again recycled in his latest “news” article. Like his book, the article is meant to do little more than dishonestly reinforce support for reprehensible voter suppression laws that offer an advantage to Republicans at the ballot box. As Vadum knows, it's far easier for Republicans to “win” elections by keeping their opposition from being able to cast their legal votes —- and certainly easier than risking jail time by gaming electronic voting systems —- than it would be to actually garner popular support for their actual agenda. That's the game for which Vadum gets paid.
He's a rather silly man, and its child's play, naturally, to demonstrate, using his own words —- as we've been doing similarly for years with now-disgraced 'voter fraud' fraudsters like Hearne and Fund —- how Vadum knowingly lies to his constituency. But we guess it's necessary to do it one more time here with Vadum, if only to place it on the Internet record to help those who don't know about him or his pernicious scam, and how it's meant to mislead otherwise good folks with clever “voter fraud” rhetoric that represents the problem as something far different than what it actually is….
The story that Vadum uses as the hook for his Daily Caller disinfo has to do with a Mississippi woman named Lessadolla Sowers who was convicted last April of 10 counts of absentee ballot fraud. Vadum calls it a “massive voter fraud scheme,” and uses her role as a member of the Executive Board of the Tunica, Mississippi, NAACP to bash the national NAACP and its President Benjamin Jealous for “lash[ing] out at new state laws requiring photo ID for voting.”
Vadum presents no evidence in his article that Sowers' crimes were part of a broader conspiracy that involved the NAACP itself in any way, either locally or nationally, or even evidence to justify calling it a “massive scheme.” As far as we can tell, the crimes were Sowers' and Sowers' alone. Nonetheless, we have no quibble with pointing out what appear to be very serious crimes on the part of the woman, if the account of the court case as reported by the tiny Tunica Times newspaper is accurate. (Their April article is here, thought most of it is now behind a pay-wall.)
Sowers was convicted of requesting that absentee ballots be sent to a PO Box of hers, where she then received them, filled them out and returned them, unbeknownst to the voters whose names she was defrauding.
We're glad she was caught. We have spent many years pointing out on these pages that when it comes to voter fraud —- fraud actually committed by voters, versus insider election fraud, which is largely as simple as a single election official punching a few buttons on a computer tabulator to change the outcome of an election wholesale, or removing voters from the computerized voter rolls —- absentee ballot fraud is far and away the easiest and most common way to game the system.
What Vadum doesn't bother to point out in his article, for some odd reason, is that polling place Photo ID restriction laws do nothing to deter absentee ballot fraud of the kind committed by Sowers. Nothing. Apparently, Vadum forgot to mention that, even though he used the Sowers' case as the hook on which to hang his article arguing for Photo ID restrictions.
Polling place voter impersonation —- which Sowers was not accused of doing, but which Photo ID restrictions are said by Republicans to be needed to deter —- is extraordinarily rare. It's also an incredibly difficult way to have any real affect on any actual election.
By way of just one example to underscore this point, we'd point you to the George W. Bush Dept. of Justice's own statistics from October 2002 to September 2005. Even after investing unprecedented resources into investigating and prosecuting the crime of voter fraud, the federal government was able to find “scant evidence” of it during that period, successfully convicting just 23 people for casting a vote while ineligible or for voting multiple times. That, out of hundreds of millions of votes cast during the same period. Of those 23 convictions, the numbers are not broken down into how many were convicted of absentee fraud versus how many carried out the dangerous and exceedingly rare practice of showing up in person at the polls and impersonating another voter. But even if all23 caseswere polling place impersonation —- and they almost certainly were not —- the number is exceedingly small.
Compare that to the more than 20 million legal voters in the nation —- the great majority of them Democratic-leaning —- who, according to the NYU Brennan Center for Justice [PDF], the League of Women Voters, and many other non-partisan studies, would be unable to cast their legal vote unless they managed to obtain a state-issued Photo ID under the new GOP laws.
In Wisconsin alone, where last week we detailed the absurd video-taped hoops a voter was forced to jump through hoops at the DMV in order to obtain an ID for voting, some 300,000 previously-legal voters, according to a University of Wisconsin poli-sci professor David Canon, will no longer be able to cast their legal votes next year unless they quickly come up with the free time, money, and resources to obtain an ID deemed acceptable by the state. (Ironically, but not accidentally, student IDs from the University of Wisconsin will not be acceptable.) The law, according to a 2005 U-W study [PDF], will have a vastly disproportionate affect on minorities, students, and the elderly —- in other words, Democratic-leaning voters. Nonetheless, the state's new law was quickly forced through by the GOP-majority legislature and Gov. Scott Walker in advance of upcoming state Senate recall elections which could result in the GOP losing their majority.
It's precisely that sort of Big Government stripping of rights of private citizens that Vadum is hoping to support with his misinformative article (and book), and the same issue exists in each of the states where the GOP is frantically passing similar voter suppression laws.
Another study by the League of Women voters found that out of more than 9 million votes cast in the state of Ohio in 2002 and 2004, just 4 votes were found to have been cast illegally — “a rate of 0.00004%” (that's 4 one-hundred-thousandths of one percent.) In Indiana, the first state in the nation to have their Photo ID restrictions approved by the Supreme Court in 2008, the supporters of the bill were unable to identify a single case of polling place impersonation in the state's entire history which might have been stopped by their new law.
We could go on, but you get the point. So does Vadum. So he finds it necessary to obfuscate these points in all matter of dishonest ways. His favorite: accusing the now-defunct ACORN “voter fraud.”
“54 individuals employed by or associated with ACORN have been convicted of voter fraud,” writes Vadum, failing to note that most, if not all, of those employed or associated were actually turned in to officials by ACORN themselves, since it was ACORN that was being ripped off by the voter registration fraud carried out by those scofflaws. It's the equivalent of calling Walmart a criminal organization after they turned a handful of workers into the police for stealing merchandise off of their shelves.
Vadum also fails to note that not a single vote is known to have been illegally cast, ever, via any of those improper registrations, most of which were flagged as “likely-fraudulent” by ACORN themselves when they turned in the registration forms anyway, as required by law.
In other words, there were zero acts of “voter fraud” committed by ACORN or their employees or associates, unless you purposely choose to confuse readers about the definition of “voter fraud” by conflating all manner of election-related fraud, such as voter registration fraud, with “voter fraud.” That, of course, is exactly what Vadum conveniently does:
Voter fraud, sometimes called electoral fraud, is a blanket term used by lawyers that encompasses a host of election-related improprieties including fraudulent voting, voter registration fraud, perjury, forgery, counterfeiting, impersonation, intimidation, and identity fraud.
So, there ya go. Vadum can decry “voter fraud” by ACORN! Even while he knows they committed none, ever, because a handful of their workers (out of tens of thousands deployed each election cycle over the years) padded their days' work with fraudulent registration forms in order to get paid when they shouldn't have. None of those fraudulent registrations were ever used to actually cast votes in any election.
By Vadum's measure, however, Republican organizations such as Young Political Majors in CA and Sproul and Associates in a number of states, just to name two, committed tens of thousands of acts of “voter fraud”! In the case of Young Political Majors, the outfit contracted by the CA Republican Party in 2008 to register voters, the head of the organization himself, Mark Anthony Jacoby, pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud as he falsely registered in the state himself, and was then paid some $12-$21 per Republican registration that each of his employees could come up with. When workers registered as Democrats, they were told how to simply change their registrations to Republican through various nefarious means.
In the case ofNathan Sproul & Associates, the Rightwing operatives have been accused in several states of wholesale shredding of Democratic voter registration forms. In Orange County, CA, alone, for example, 11 workers were arrested in 2006. The group was tied to the shredding of Democratic voter registration forms in 2004 in Nevada, West Virginia, Oregon, and elsewhere. Nonetheless, the McCain/Palin campaign hired them for voter registration work in 2008.
That's a lot of “voter fraud” by Republicans, as Vadum would put it! Or it would be, if he bothered to point to the crimes actually carried out by Republican organizations —- as opposed to workers turned in for their crimes by non-partisan organizations like ACORN —- and then call it “voter fraud.”
Then there's the New England “voter fraud” scheme (phone-jamming, really, meant to undermine the Democrats GOTV effort, but we'll stick with Vadum's conveniently-broad definition for the moment) for which top Republican Party activists and officials were sentenced to jail for gaming the 2002 US Senate election in New Hampshire. After serving his time in jail, one of the conspirators, Allen Raymond, went on to write a book about it called How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican Operative.
None of the cases highlighted above, though most of them actually directly affected election results, were mentioned by Vadum in his article and, far more importantly, none of them would have been stopped in any way by the GOP polling place Photo ID restrictions he is opportunistically pimping for.
Vadum also fails to highlight cases like the recent massive —- seriously, massive —- Clay County, KY, GOP election fraud conspiracy, where 8 top officials on the County Board of Elections, including the County Clerk, a Circuit Court Judge, and the School Superintendent, were convicted and sentenced earlier this year to 156 years in federal prison for gaming the results of elections year after year from 2002 to 2006 in the county. (During the trial, the federal prosecutor charged the county-wide scheme had been going on for decades.) That scheme even included changing the votes of voters on electronic touch-screen voting machines after voters had left the booth. None of those crimes would have been deterred by the GOP polling place Photo ID restrictions that Vadum pretends are needed to stop the nefarious, and now-defunct, ACORN, etc.
We could go on. And on. But lastly, since our point has otherwise been made one would think, we should also note that Vadum fails to point out in either article or book, the actual cases of actual voter fraud, both proven and alleged, as recently carried out by GOP superstars themselves. Folks such as Ann Coulter, Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Missouri's US Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin, Presidential candidate Jon Huntsman, and Indiana's current Sec. of State Charlie White who now stands accused of 7 felonies, 3 of them related to voter fraud.
Photo ID restrictions would not have deterred any of the above noted cases either, as they were all absentee ballot fraud, as Sowers' case in Mississippi was. All except for Coulter's third incident of apparent voter fraud, the one in the state of Florida. In that case, however, she falsified her driver's license as well as her registration form according to the local police, so when she knowingly voted at the wrong precinct in Palm Beach County she would not have been caught committing voter fraud by a polling place Photo ID restriction either.
Meanwhile, in his article, Vadum then goes on to tell readers about one actual case of ACORN itself (versus a hired worker) being “convicted of voter fraud in Nevada in April.” What he doesn't bother telling his readers, because he's dishonest, is that ACORN's federal court-appointed bankruptcy trustee, who didn't want to fight a criminal case, actually pleaded guilty to one count of “felony compensation for registration of voters,” which the organization doesn't even believe to be constitutional, but no longer has the funds to fight.
Far from “voter fraud,” unless you use Vadum's absurdly misleading definition, the case involved a contractor who, according to the Las Vegas Journal Review, “rewarded workers with $5 extra per shift if they brought in 21 or more completed voter registration cards” each day. That, even as ACORN maintains they ordered the contractor “not to run the incentive program” and, in any case, they question the constitutionality of Nevada's new law, which disallows such incentives for voter registrations.
Contrast that with the GOP cases in California where the party itself paid some $12 per registration, legally, while their contractors were convicted nonetheless of massive voter registration fraud. But, to Vadum, who will stretch the truth on just about anything, ACORN “was itself convicted of voter fraud in Nevada.” That's the dishonest best he can do.
When it comes to ACORN, the cases of registration fraud which they themselves alerted officials about when they themselves were defrauded by workers, were routinely turned into “massive Democratic voter fraud” in the media by opportunistic partisan scoundrels like Vadum, Fox “News,” and their partisan compatriots. When the same crimes, and usually far worse, are committed by actual Republican organizations, they fail to notice it. ACORN's worst “crime” of all, of course, which Republicans don't care to point out, is that ACORN managed to legally register millions of legal low- and middle-income voters —- voters who tend to vote for Democrats, not Republicans. So they had to be destroyed.
Nonetheless, no matter how you slice it, both voter fraud and voter registration fraud are serious and pernicious crimes, no matter who carries them out, no matter for what reason, no matter how it's done, and no matter who it may serve to benefit. But to purposely mislead the public about who is committing it; when it actually does (and doesn't) have anything to do with elections or votes cast in any way; who is actually behind it; and what does (and doesn't) deter it, is arguably as reprehensible. Particularly when misrepresenting it all, as Vadum knowingly does, it is likely to result in tens of thousands, if not millions, of legal voters being unable to exercise their legal franchise at all.
Vadum may be a clown, but he, like John Fund, Thor Hearne, and the bulk of the other GOP “voter fraud” fraudsters before him, knows exactly what he is doing, and exactly how they are lying to the public in hopes of achieving partisan gain at the expense of the great experiment of American democracy.
Paul Weyrich, one of the godfathers of Rightwing partisan “conservatism,” infamously said in 1980 (see the very short video here), “I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people, they never have been from the beginning of our country and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”
Weyrich would go on to found the American Legislative Exchange Counsel, or ALEC, the group responsible for penning much of the voter suppression legislation being passed by Republican statehouses across the country today.
Vadum is now carrying Weyrich's voter suppression torch.
The knowing deceptions carried out by folks like Vadum are, in truth, fraud of the first order. He should be ashamed. No doubt, he is not. To Vadum and friends, the ends justify the means, and undermining American values like democracy in order to game elections is simply all in another day's work.
This Wikipedia description of the character of “Squealer”, the “minister of propaganda” from George Orwell's “Animal Farm”, seems an apt, if literary and poetic, description of Vadum's current role on behalf of the GOP and their long-playing “voter fraud” fraud…
A small white fat porker who serves as Napoleon's right hand pig and minister of propaganda…Squealer manipulates the language to excuse, justify, and extol all of Napoleon's actions. Squealer limits debate by complicating it and he confuses and disorients, making claims that the pigs need the extra luxury they are taking in order to function properly, for example. However, when questions persist, he usually uses the threat of the return of Mr. Jones, the former owner of the farm, to justify the pigs' privileges. Squealer uses statistics to convince the animals that life is getting better and better. Most of the animals have only dim memories of life before the revolution; therefore, they are convinced.
Squeal on, Mr. Vadum. Most of your readers have only dim memories of life before the lies of Fox “News”; therefore, they are undoubtedly convinced by your persistent anti-democracy fraud. Congratulations. Your country couldn't be prouder.

UPDATE 6:38pm PT: Since publishing the above, Vadum has tweeted that I'm “dishonest,” a “socialist,” and a “voter fraud apologist.” In a brief blog post, he compares me to “a homeless person scrawling his manifesto on scraps of paper,” calls me a “left-winger,” and this article “a lengthy screed.” He has failed, however, in all of that, to offer a even one single point to dispute anything in this entire article. Because, of course, he can't, and he knows it. That's how propagandists like Vadum work.

left-wing financier George Soros figures prominently in a campaign by progressives to repeal the Trump tax cuts, according to a review of the campaign’s allied organizations and their tax records by The Daily Signal.
The campaign, called “Not One Penny,” first came together almost a year ago with what The Washington Post reported was “a seven-figure ad buy in eight Republican-held congressional districts.”
All of the districts, the Post reported, include “large numbers of white voters without college degrees, who voted for Donald Trump in 2016 but have not historically been passionate about tax cuts.”
The “direct action and activism” of the Not One Penny campaign, the Post reported, closely model the Tax March held April 15, 2017, and successful efforts to block repeal of Obamacare in the Senate.
The liberal Left continue to push their radical agenda against American values. The good news is there is a solution. Find out more >>
Several organizations listed as partners by Not One Penny have tangible ties to Soros, the Hungarian-American billionaire and hedge fund manager. Soros is the founder and chairman of Open Society Foundations, an international grant-making institution based in New York City and known for financing progressive political causes.

“Among Not One Penny’s allies are plenty of groups funded by George Soros through his philanthropies,” MatthewVadum, a senior vice president at Capital Research Center, told The Daily Signalin an email. “Among them are Demos, MoveOn.org, People’s Action (formerly National People’s Action), People for the American Way, Public Citizen, [and] Working Families.”
Vadum described Not One Penny as a project of the:{Sixteen Thirty Fund:(style="margin:0px;padding:0px;border:0px;font-style:inherit;font-variant:inherit;font-stretch:inherit;vertical-align:baseline"):}:, a left-leaning nonprofit that has received funding from labor unions and a Soros-funded organization called the Tides Foundation.

Matthew Vadum is an award-winning investigative journalist at a conservative watchdog group in Washington, D.C. Vadum is also author of *Subversion Inc: How Obama's ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers*.
Two days after Rolling Stone posted Ari Berman’s very good piece on how the GOP campaign against ACORN and “voter fraud” is actually just part of a coordinated effort to stop minorities and poor people from voting at all, right-wing “investigative journalist” Matthew Vadum has now explicitly endorsed disenfranchising poor people for the sole reason that they’re poor and will vote for people who will do things to alleviate their poverty. It is positively Swiftian, if Jonathan Swift had been an actual cannibal.
The piece is published at the hilariously named “American Thinker” site, because Vadum is too dimwitted even for the Examiner or a Breitbart site or the Washington Times or Human Events or any of the other homes of the conservative movement’s lesser talents.
Here is your pull quote:
Welfare recipients are particularly open to demagoguery and bribery.
Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals. It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country — which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote.
Wow, “nonproductive segments of the population.” The bit that likens the act of participation in the democratic process to a crime has gotten the most amount of attention, but the bit where Vadum adopts the language of eugenicists is the real low-light for me.
He probably had to go over-the-top awful to get some buzz. Matthew Vadum is a very silly person who seldom lets facts get in the way of a good made-up story. He made it this far peddling bullshit about ACORN. Sadly, now that there is no such thing as ACORN, people have less of a reason to pay attention to Vadum, and so he just claims that there is still an ACORN and they are still very powerful and evil.
The thing is, conservatives justified their investigations into ACORN by claiming to be rooting out “fraud.” They claimed to care solely about punishing actual crimes. When you write that you actually just oppose letting poor people vote, you’re giving the game away. You’re never supposed to openly state the goals of the conservative movement, because no one but a small cadre of sociopaths actually supports them. (This is why Frank Luntz was invented.)
Mathew Vadum is so incredibly dumb that he probably should not be allowed to vote.

Double-Voting for Obama
Posted By Matthew Vadum On February 13, 2013 @ 12:51 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | 59 Comments
After publicly boasting that she voted twice for President Obama in November, a left-wing Ohio activist associated with a George Soros-funded group claims she did nothing wrong by double-voting.
“There’s absolutely no intent on my part to commit voter fraud,” said Melowese Richardson, a longtime Cincinnati poll worker and Democratic activist whose unlawfully cast ballot canceled out a lawful ballot and thereby deprived another citizen of his or her right to vote.
Voter fraud, also known as vote fraud, election fraud, and electoral fraud, refers to the specific offenses of fraudulent voting, impersonation, perjury, voter registration fraud, forgery, counterfeiting, bribery, destroying already cast ballots, and a multitude of crimes related to the electoral process.
Having already incriminated herself in front of a TV news camera, Richardson said she’ll contest criminal voter fraud charges. “I’ll fight it for Mr. Obama and for Mr. Obama’s right to sit as president of the United States,” she said nonsensically.
Hamilton County, Ohio, records reportedly indicate that Richardson voted by absentee ballot on Nov. 1. Ten days later she told an official she also voted at a polling place out of fear that her absentee ballot would not count.
County records also accuse Richardson, who has registered thousands of people to vote, of being disruptive and hiding “things from other poll workers on Election Day after another female worker reported she was intimidated by Richardson.” An investigation revealed that the perpetrator’s granddaughter, India Richardson, also voted twice in November.
All of this is fine with the activists of the Left who only care about observing laws and technicalities when they advance their cause.
Left-wing activists and think tanks such as the Brennan Center for Justice constantly churn out studies and reports financed by George Soros, purporting to prove that voter fraud is as unreal as the Loch Ness Monster. They claim that those on the Right want to crack down on voter fraud solely as a means of preventing the poor and minorities from voting.
Voter fraud is a figment of your paranoid conservative imagination, according to pseudo-journalist Brentin Mock of Colorlines, a racial-grievance website run by the radical Applied Research Center. “Voter fraud as a thing has been exposed by civil rights watchdogs and a wide range of journalists as pure conspiracy theory,” Mock writes.
Brennan Center lawyers Michael Waldman and Justin Levitt ridicule the idea that anyone would double-vote. “A person casting two votes risks jail time and a fine for minimal gain,” they said last year. “Proven voter fraud, statistically, happens about as often as death by lightning strike.”
“Well, lightning is suddenly all over Cincinnati, Ohio,” quips John Fund at National Review Online. “The Hamilton County Board of Elections is investigating 19 possible cases of alleged voter fraud that occurred when Ohio was a focal point of the 2012 presidential election. A total of 19 voters and nine witnesses are part of the probe.”
Some Americans believe they are entitled to vote more than once in order to exact revenge against a society they feel did them or their ancestors wrong. Some left-wingers say that election fraud is justifiable because in a sense it compensates the poor for having little political power.
Richardson is far from alone. Double-voting is distressingly common.
For example, in September Wendy Rosen dropped out as the Democratic candidate in the first congressional district in Maryland after it was revealed she double-voted in two elections. State Democratic officials admitted Rosen voted in both Florida and Maryland in the 2006 general election and in the primaries in 2008.
In 2011 a Tunica County, Miss., jury convicted local NAACP [no?] official Lessadolla Sowers on 10 counts of fraudulently casting absentee ballots. Sowers was sentenced to a five-year prison term.
Voter fraud, which left-wing activist groups encourage, has long been a problem in the U.S. It was rampant in the 2012 election.
It’s not hard to see why. According to one report, about 24 million voter registrations across the nation are no longer valid or are significantly inaccurate, more than 1.8 million dead people are registered as voters, and 2.75 million Americans are registered to vote in more than one state.
Richardson is also active in an ACORN-like Cincinnati-based activist group called Communities United for Action.
The Obama administration has funneled taxpayer money to its friends at Communities United for Action. In 2010 the Environmental Protection Agency gave the group $25,000 to indoctrinate local children about “environmental justice.”
Communities United for Action is part of a larger Saul Alinsky-inspiredorganizing network called National People’s Action (NPA). NPA makes no bones about its desire to overthrow what remains of America’s free enterprise system.
Activists from the NPA network tried to silence presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan in the past election cycle, aggressively heckling the two during speeches.
Left-wing activists call this “accountability,” an Orwellian euphemism. Accountability, as they use the term, is not about transparency or good government. Following the lead of the so-called father of the New Left, Herbert Marcuse, who favored silencing non-leftists, accountability actions focus on harassing and intimidating political enemies, disrupting them and forcing them to waste their resources dealing with activists’ provocations.
The preeminent funder of the Left, George Soros, underwrites NPA’s agitation through one of his philanthropies, the Foundation to Promote Open Society ($300,000 since 2010). So does the Woods Fund of Chicago ($50,000 since 2009) on whose board Barack Obama and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers served. Other institutional funders of NPA include the Arca Foundation ($421,240 since 2010), W.K. Kellogg Foundation ($150,000 since 2011), and Barbra Streisand Foundation ($10,000 since 2010).
Meanwhile, the Left is gearing up for a fight in Congress over voter registration and voting. Activists want the rules governing elections to be even more lax, thus making fraud easier.
In the State of the Union address last night, President Obama said Americans shouldn’t have to wait for hours in line to vote. Obama announced the creation of a non-partisan commission “to improve the voting experience in America.”
Obama said the body will be led by “two longtime experts in the field” who served as top attorneys for Mitt Romney’s campaign and his own campaign. The Republican lawyer is Ben Ginsberg; the Democrat, Bob Bauer.
Bauer is the bottom-feeding barrister who asked the Department of Justice in 2008 to prosecute Obama critics and fine television stations for daring to carry an ad about Obama’s close personal friendship with Bill Ayers. Bauer, Obama’s former White House Counsel, is married to Anita Dunn, the Mao-quoting former communications director in the Obama White House. Bauer has been instrumental in whitewashing Obama’s radical roots by filing lawsuits keeping a bewildering array of the president’s personal papers hidden away.
With Bauer serving on the new commission, at least cartoon characters and the dead will be well-represented.

==20082008 kos have previously expressed concerns about ACORN but found a criticism of them that is way over the top.
A Daily Show episode featured Bertha Lewis, the chief organizer at ACORN, being interrogated by John Oliver who was on the prowl for crack cocaine.Oliver to Lewis: "Don't pretend you don't know what I'm going to ask you. Where's the crack?"The crack issue was raised by another guest on the show named Matthew Vadum, who works for Capital Research Center. Ed Meese is on their board. Need I say more?
I looked it up and this assclown claims the drug claims are true.
I'm not convinced. It looks like ACORN has made some very bad hiring decisions in the past but to suggest it's a conspiracy is wingnuttery.
Why was the Daily Show dignifying this bullshit?==

The Daily Show aired one of its typically brilliant “investigative” pieces, this one delving into the shadowy underworld of community organizing and the voter-registration mafia that is ACORN. Naturally, they secured a no-name pundit who was willing to educate the audience on the realities of community organizing: one Matthew Vadum of the Capital Research Center. Vadum, speaking truth to power, stated that being a community organizer wasn’t a fit background for someone running for president, reminding us that “Osama bin Laden was a community organizer.” Well, we suppose that’s true-ish! And community organizing, says Vadum, “can also lead to a very rewarding career in crack-cocaine trafficking. It’s a straight line from community organizing to crack-cocaine dealer. Community organizers exchange crack cocaine for votes.” Well, duh. Some people vote for the sticker, others for the high.
So what sort of person would actually spit out this sort of nonsense? Thankfully, Videogum has discovered a genius musical montage of Vadum imagery to help us understand him better.
