Fish Lake
Fish Lake Resort
1915-07-30 - Proposed recreation center. The wish of many that Cheney might have a recreation spot and [cut-off]ner home colony bids fair to [cut-off]ealized if the plans of a number of good town boosters materialize and a movement set on foot at a meeting held Tuesday evening is [cut-off]ed out.
It is the purpose to make such [cut-off] of Fish Lake, which lies within easy reach of the city. At the meeting above mentioned, the fact [cut-off] called to mind that the city owns a large share of the frontage on the lake. This was purchased years ago as a site for a city water plant and for some time was utilized as a source of Cheney's water supply. A large part of the shoreline owned by the city can be easily transformed into a nice beach, in the opinion of many who have examined it.
1915-08-06 - Reports from Fish lake are that work of building a sand beach for the use of bathers is progressing nicely. A number of men and teams are busily at work, and the appearance of the water's edge is being rapidly changed. Swimmers will find much enjoyment at the [cut-off]e when the work is finished. J.P. Lasher says that the work is not [cut-off]e of a single season, but that some work must be done for several seasons before the sand settles at the bottom properly.
1915-08-13 - Fish lake has sprung into popularity as a bathing and fishing resort.
W.J. Findley almost lost his life while swimming in Fish lake Thursday, an indifferent swimmer, he went in too deep and was going down for the third time when rescued by Will Houck and Owen Flory.
1915-08-20 - Hugh Nelson, a diminutive 12-year-old swimmer last Sunday duplicated the feat of the older swimmers earlier in the week by swimming twice the width of Fish Lake without a stop, a good mile or more.

1964-03-27: County Will Not Operate Fish Lake Resort This Year
The county commissioners will not operate a public resort at Fish Lake this summer, they told a meeting of Fish Lake home owners Monday.
The meeting, held at the home of Ed Nee, was attended by about 15 home owners, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Meyers, operators of Meyers Park Resort at Fish Lake, commissioner Howard Ball, and Roy Gunderson, head of the county parks department.
Earlier this month, the commissioners announced they would exercise their option to purchase Bunker's Resort for $43,207. The resort has been under lease to the county since July of 1963. The resort was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Bunker. The commissioners announced at the time they intended to turn the resort into a county-owned public recreation area, with the help of federal matching funds.
Mr. and Mrs. Meyers, who competed with the county last summer while it ran a public resort at Fish Lake, have steadily opposed such competition from the county.
Last week they met with the commissioners, who reiterated their intentions at the time to operate the resort again this summer as a public resort.
Then, at Monday's meeting, the commissioners did an about face and said the resort would not be a public facility again. They said they will use it for Boy Scout purposes and for Red Cross swimming lessons.
The lake was poisoned for fishing this year and will not be reopened for fishing until the 1965 season.
