68. The Volcker Rule versus Glass Seagall- see Charlie Rose interview Bloomberg NB Will the consumer be safer with Dodd Frank ? Yes! (Volcker). The issue of too big to fail does no longer fly. The government can take it over?9 (JS: But , where do those assets get ceded too for further loan/ bond sales. In the EU, the National assets sales are being completed). The Dodd frank rule provides authority for oversight , which never existed before, particularly shadow banking. Money markets offer potential problems and the question of regulation is relevant. Banks had no assets, insurance or regulation. The EU sovereign debt crisis or sovereign default would have had a run on the money market. The Euro zone needs further integration , something like a EU treasury. We have had lapses in discipline, by consuming $3 trillion of Chinese exports while they purchases our treasuries   along with the housing bubble. We borrowed too much, and have had a collapse in values. It takes time to work out and so must the Chinese. The average family in the US has had no growth in income in 15 years. The disparity of income has particularly grown of late, and the discontent is obvious on the streets.
