Synapse

The adult human brain is estimated to contain from 1014 to 5 × 1014 (100-500 trillion) synapses.

How many synapse in a cubic mm.

Say human brain has a quadrillion synapses = 1015.

and say the brain size is 1400 cc...

Now divide 1015 by 1000 = 1012 per cubic cm and there

are 1000 cubic mm in a cubic cm so

there are abt 109 synapses in a cubic mm now divide that by

10,000 + 105 neurons per cubic mm = 100,000 neurons per cubic mm.

The figure listed in http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/what.html

is half a billion synapses per cubic mm.
