Afyon
One of the few permanent towns in the Veldt. It is the cultural heart of Au’Kael society. Not a large town, with maybe only a few thousand permanent residents. But caravans and traveling bands are constantly passing through. The population can easily swell significantly, and it always has the feeling of vastly more activity than its size would suggest. It grew because of two main factors. First, being located adjacent to The Wellsprings, a series of large pools and springs that flow into the Sanandaj River, giving it most of its flow, and making the region a fertile oasis in the Veldt areas. Second, within the towering rock pinnacle is the Shrine of Possibilities, the only intact Sion site in the Veldt, and the source of the coins used in their Castings. The city was largely ruined in the Veldt War, but has been mostly rebuilt, though many residents say the newer constructions and integration of modern designs and technology has made the city lose much of the old feeling. It also now serves as the administrative heart of the Veldt, since the region enjoys a level of local autonomy.
