According to the Federal Election Commission, Plank has donated to both major U.S. political parties and to individuals of both parties.[51] On CNBC's Halftime Report in February 2017, Plank commented on Donald Trump's pro-business philosophy, saying the president was a "real asset" to the business community.[52] Plank's comments drew criticism on social media. As some customers vowed to boycott the brand, three major endorsers—Stephen Curry, ballerina Misty Copeland, and actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson—went on Twitter to express their opposition.[53] Johnson called Plank's words "divisive".[53] In the days following the remarks, Plank bought a full-page advertisement in The Baltimore Sun to clarify his comments. In the ad, Plank said Under Armour stood for job creation, but publicly opposed the president's proposed travel ban.[54]
Plank sat on the President Trump's American Manufacturing Council. He stepped down from the council following President Trump's comments on violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, saying Under Armour "engages in innovation and sports, not politics".[55] Additionally, he publicly opposed President Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord[56] and was among the Fortune 500 CEOs to sign a pledge to promote workplace diversity and inclusion.[57]

Duane R. Gibson, "a solo lobbyist and veteran of the Greenberg Traurig lobby operation," Judy Sarasohn wrote in the September 15, 2004,Washington Post, was "affiliating" with The Livingston Group as a consultant.
Earlier, Gibson was a senior staffer for Represenatative Don Young (R-Alaska), who chaired the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Gibson also worked for Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). [1]

2000 Florida Recount
"Four of Abramoff’s colleagues—all of whom have left Greenberg in the wake of investigations surrounding Abramoff’s activities—were foot soldiers in the Florida recount. Two of them bragged of their recount work on their official online Greenberg biographies, which have since been removed," John Byrne reported in the May 5, 2005, Raw Story.
"Shawn Vasell noted that he was a 'team leader' in Broward and Duval counties in his bio; Duane Gibson was photographed in the acclaimedBrooks Brothers riot of Republican operatives outside the Miami-Dade County polling headquarters; Todd Boulanger boasted of being on the Broward and Duval recount team in his profile. Also on the ground was former DeLay deputy chief of staff Tony Rudy," Byrne wrote.
Newsweek reported in the December 4, 2000, issue "on how the 'spontaneous' demonstrations in Florida were led by senior Republican 'operatives.' They were summoned from all over by e-mail from the Bush campaign, provided with plane tickets and hotel rooms. These election 'observers' were handed placards to wave, T shirts to wear (SORE-LOSERMAN) and led in chants. ... One of the shock troops was Duane Gibson, who had his trip to Miami paid for by the Bush team and is an aide to Alaska GOP Congressman Don Young. He told Newsweek he was angered by what he saw outside the canvassing board's ballot-counting room. 'I thought, My gosh, they're taking those ballots to a closed area and they're not going to let us see them.' He insisted the angry demonstrations were 'spontaneous.'"
More on the Abramoff Connection
"Also, registered as a lobbyist for the [Missouri] Highway Commission was Abramoff deputy Duane Gibson, who aided Abramoff's Greenberg-funded efforts to stop the 2000 Florida recount and assisted in unreported fundraising events at Abramoff's DC restaurants held on behalf of GOP luminaries including DeLay, Blunt, and [Eric] Cantor." [2]
Duane Gibson worked on the Agua Caliente Band of the CahuillaMaster Plan for their Tribal elections in 2002, in order to help get candidates Candace C. Patencio and Virginia Siva elected to the Tribal Board. Gibson was working for Jack Abramoff and with Michael Scanlonon this project. (p.53)
Fundraising with Abramoff
On June 3, 2003, Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert’s political action committee held "a $1,500-a-plate lunch at [Abramoff's restaurant] Signatures at which Hastert [was] the featured speaker. Abramoff and two other members of his staff may have been in attendance, as Hastert’s PAC records contributions of $6,250 from the lobbyist and six other members of his firm"--Todd A. Boulanger, Duane R. Gibson, Kevin A. Ring,Shawn Vasell, Neil G. Volz and Padgett Wilson--"shortly thereafter–including a $500 contribution from Boulanger," John Byrne reported inThe Raw Story, March 29, 2005.
"GovBizAdvantage"
"Duane Gibson, a former counsel to the House Resources Committee when Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) was chairman, named his firm GovBizAdvantage because as he navigates the 'maze of government,' he said, he tries to keep always in mind the specific business needs of his clients," Jim Snyder wrote May 4, 2005, in The Hill.
GOVBIZ Advantage is a registered lobbyist [3] for the Alaska Federation of Natives as well as a registered lobbyist for the developers of the controversial Pebble Mine Project in Southwestern Alaska, Northern Dynasty Mines. Pebble, if developed would be the largest open pit gold mine in North America. [4]

Number 8 is Duane Gibson. He has some close Alaskan ties, and is admitted to the Alaska Bar. Duane Gibson was a former top aide to Sen. Ted Stevens and was also a top aide to Rep. Don Young. When he left Don Young's office in the summer of 2002, Gibson was senior counsel. He joined Jack Abramoff at the lobbying firm of Greenberg Traurig.
According to this website:
Gibson was named in grand jury subpoenas of documents relating to "agents and associates" of Abramoff. [Records Expose Young-Abramoff Ties, Anchorage Daily News, 4/20/2008]
Gibson received public money via Ted's earmarks for the Alaska Fisheries Marketing Board, which awarded grants totaling $293,000 to the Alaska-based dog-treat company Arctic Paws, owned by Duane Gibson and his brother, Brett. [Stevens Stops Backing Controversial Board, Roll Call, 5/9/2007]
In 2005, Gibson sponsored a "coffee break" as part of the pro-mining convention and is a registered lobbyist for the Pebble Mine. He is listed as a guest at two "Kenai River Classic" fundraisers as part of the Livingston Group.
Mr. Gibson has a right to make a living, just like everyone else. I don't agree with his political position, and that's fine. His participation in the disingenuous "protest" that helped bring us George W. Bush, is a vulgar display of anti-patriotism. The faux mob wasn't there to make sure their votes were counted; they were liars, manipulating the democratic process.
In October 2005, the Center for Public Integrity reported that Pombo had taken two overseas junkets to New Zealand and Japan. Both trips were paid for by a group called the International Foundation for Conservation of Natural Resources, which receives funding from bioengineering firms such as Monsanto and also from pro-whaling interests. Pombo did not report the trip on his income tax form, though the IRS considers overseas junkets gifts on which taxes must be paid.
“I really have no idea what is going on with that foundation,” said Pombo, when confronted with the report. “Obviously I will have my accountant check into this.” Even by the high standards of congressional evasiveness, this was a spectacular bout of memory loss. Pombo was a founder of the International Foundation for Conservation of Natural Resources and served as its chairman until July of 2005.
Then there’s the Jack Abramoff connection. Like Bush, Pombo pretended to have only the foggiest recollection of the beleaguered super lobbyist. “I think I met the guy a few times,” Pombo said last month. “But he never stepped foot in my office. Never lobbied me about anything.”
Unfortunately for Pombo, Abramoff left a distinct paper trail across Capital Hill, with much of the forensic evidence found in the chambers of the Resource Committee, where the business of his clients was so often decided. Duane Gibson, a former top staffer on the Resource Committee, left the committee to work in Abramoff’s firm, where he represented mining companies and Indian tribes. Gibson helped Pombo draft a legislative rider that would have transferred thousands of acres of prime federal lands to mining companies. Three months before Pombo inserted the measure in the budget bill, Gibson hosted a $1,000-a-head fundraiser for the congressman.
In 2002, Pombo went to bat for Charles Hurwitz, owner of Maxxam and infamous looter of redwoods and of Savings & Loans. Pombo and Tom Delay intimidated federal regulators into dropping an investigation of Hurwitz’s banking practices. Most of the legal footwork was done by Gibson, who later came under legal scrutiny by federal prosecutors. Hurwitz, of course, was a top contributor to Pombo’s campaign war chest.
Republicans were so worried about Pombo’s ethical dilemmas that they recruited an old war-horse to challenge him in the primary: Pete McCloskey. McCloskey is a former congressman and a sponsor of the original version of the Endangered Species Act. McCloskey called Pombo the “Duke Cunningham of the environment,” a reference to the now imprisoned congressman from San Diego who memorialized his menu of bribes on his congressional stationery.
The Pebble Project is a copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry deposit in the advanced exploration stage. The project is located on state land in the Bristol Bay Region of southwest Alaska, approximately 17 miles northwest of the community of Iliamna. In 2007 the Pebble Partnership (PLP) was formed as a 50:50 partnership between a subsidiary of Anglo American and Northern Dynasty Minerals.Rio Tinto owns 19.8% of Northern Dynasty shares and Mitsubishi Corp. owns 11%.
Pebble consists of two contiguous deposits. Pebble West is a near surface resource of approximately 4.1 billion metric tons that, if developed, would likely be mined by conventional open-pit mining techniques. Pebble East is significantly deeper than Pebble West and contains generally higher grade ore. Its size is currently estimated at 3.4 billion metric tons. If developed, Pebble East would probably be mined via bulk tonnage underground mining methods. PLP is currently conducting an exploration drilling program to further explore the Pebble deposits and upgrade its resource classification.

2012:
Of course we expect a clear win tonight,” said RNC spokesman Tim Miller. “But the campaign and RNC has the resources prepared and ready if the election heads to a recount tomorrow, we are also monitoring voter irregularities throughout the country today.”
Duane Gibson, a Republican lawyer from Washington who participated in the contentious recount in Miami after the Bush/Gore campaign said he’s not surprised at today’s mobilization.
“I would expect the campaigns to have a fleet of people on both sides go in there and make sure there is no funny business, that the votes have been counted accurately and they have an honest tally,” Gibson said. “There’s a lot at stake for the country.”
“But hopefully, Gov. Romney has made a sufficient case to America and we won’t need to do that again,” Gibson said.
bs
Duane R. Gibson brings to The Livingston Group experience on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. His federal government experience spans twenty-two years and encompasses several issue areas: complex legislative strategy, environmental matters, natural resources (mining and timber), defense/national security, transportation (automotive and aircraft), energy and energy efficiency, Native American affairs, tax, healthcare, appropriations, and education.
His extensive contacts at the staff and Member level in the House, along with numerous contacts in the Senate and the executive branch, were gained through nearly twelve years as a senior staff member for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the House Committee on Resources under Chairman Don Young (R-AK), and working for SEN Chairman Ted Stevens (R-AK) of the Committee on Appropriations and the Committee on Commerce. He has extensive experience building coalitions, developing legislative and appropriations agendas, executing those agendas and producing results for clients.
As a lobbyist, he has composed, executed and managed teams that have achieved numerous legislative enactments for clients. Among these achievements was enactment of legislation capping the liability of the construction contracting companies that responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, effectively saving the companies hundreds of millions of dollars in litigation costs and potentially billions in possible damages or settlements. Legislative enactments also include highway transportation programs for Native Americans and a retroactive change to a Department of Energy auto loan program enabling a client to apply for funds to build highly efficient passenger vehicles. Much of his work involves developing a bipartisan approach to facilitate results for clients.
Mr. Gibson holds two law degrees, one from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. LL.M., with distinction, and the other, a J.D., from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Cleveland, Ohio. He also holds a degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University. Mr. Gibson is admitted to the Alaska Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the Supreme Court Bar.

"Team Abramoff" was the "more than a dozen lobbyists who were members of ... the tight-knit group who worked under" Jack Abramoff "when he was at the lobbying helm of the Washington office of Greenberg Traurig LLP and, before that, Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds LLP."[1]
"Members of that influence dream-team continue to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars as registered lobbyists, often lobbying for former Abramoff clients -- unimpeded by the taint of scandal and revelations of suspicious deal-making in the brash and sometimes salty e-mails exchanged with Abramoff," James V. Grimaldi wrote in the June 26, 2005, Washington Post.

"Bolting" Preston Gates for Greenberg Traurig
On January 8, 2001, after nearly seven years at Preston Gates, Abramoff and seven members of his "lobbying team" "bolted from Preston Gates to become Senior Director of Governmental Affairs" at Greenberg Traurig, The Buzz reported March 28, 2001.
When asked by The Buzz why he had made the move, Abramoff's "response was that he liked the vision of Greenberg. 'They have a dominant presence,' he continued. Abramoff added, 'This move is an excellent opportunity for me and my clients with the new Administration.'"
Abramoff's "team" of people at Greenberg Traurig in March 2001 were listed as Michelle Diedrick, Shawn Vasell, Tony C. Rudy, Alan Slomowitz, Todd A. Boulanger, Amy F. Berger, Padgett Wilson (Pat Wilson), Sara Rizzo, Kevin A. Ring, Julie Plocki, and Susan B. Ralston.
Questionable Hiring Patterns
"With a federal corruption case intensifying, prosecutors investigating Jack Abramoff, the Republican lobbyist, are examining whether he brokered lucrative jobs for Congressional aides at powerful lobbying firms in exchange for legislative favors," Anne E. Kornblut, reported in the December 2, 2005, New York Times.
"Investigators are said to be especially interested in how Tony Rudy, a former deputy chief of staff to Representative Tom DeLay of Texas, andNeil G. Volz, a former chief of staff to Representative Bob Ney of Ohio, obtained lobbying positions with big firms on K Street," Kornblut wrote. "The hiring pattern is 'very much a part of' what prosecutors are focusing on, a person involved in the case said. Another participant confirmed that investigators were trying to determine whether aides conducted 'job negotiations with Jack Abramoff' while they were in a position to help him on Capitol Hill."
"Also under examination are payments to lobbyists and lawmakers' wives, including Mr. Rudy's wife, Lisa Rudy, whose firm, Liberty Consulting, worked in consultation with Mr. Abramoff, people involved in case said," Kornblut wrote.
"Of particular interest, according to several people involved in the case, are how Mr. Rudy, who left Mr. DeLay's office in 2001 to join Greenberg Traurig, and Mr. Volz, who left Mr. Ney's office in 2002 for that firm, obtained their positions. Investigators believe Mr. Abramoff may have solicited help from both men and their supervisors on Capitol Hill while helping arrange for high-paying positions, people familiar with case said."
"As investigators try to unravel the web of relationships between the lawmakers and the lobbyists, they are considering spouses' roles, people involved in the case said," Kornblut wrote.
