Rob Schilling's radio show cancelled in Charlottesville
Rob Schilling, the former conservative Republican Charlottesville City Council member, has been broadcasting on WINA AM 1070, getting the conservative message out to the masses. Friday he was notified his show unexpectedly cancelled effective immediately. Here is the information sent by former Albemarle GOP Chairman Keith Drake:
The Schilling Show Cancelled! Let's show Rob our support
Charlottesville, Virginia - December 22, 2008 -- If you're getting ready to tune into The Schilling Show in a few minutes on WINA AM 1070, you won't hear Rob Schilling and his program. Rob was informed after last Friday's show his program is cancelled effective immediately.
The cancellation of Rob's program is a huge loss to ATTA and the entire Albemarle / Charlottesville community. Rob was a consistent voice of fiscal conservatism and a champion of the rights of the average taxpayer and common citizen. Rob provided a forum to ATTA for our message: that local government should make every attempt to spend our tax money effectively and efficiently.
Indeed, Peter Wurzer and I were his final guests last Friday. We understand the cancellation was entirely a business decision in response to the tough economic times we're all facing, and that Rob's outspoken conservative message was not a factor. Also, the decision was made at the corporate level bySaga Communications (owner of WINA); and that local WINA management supported keeping The Schilling Show on the air.
This cancellation means WINA no longer broadcasts any local programming with a mainstream conservative theme. "Big government" programs such as The Coy Barefoot Show, The Rick and Jane Morning Show, and Saga Communications' separate Lib-Talk AM radio station remain in place.
Rob worked tirelessly for all of us, and I feel we owe him a bit of our time in return. Please contact the following individuals and let them know how you feel:

About the Albemarle Truth in Taxation Alliance (ATTA)
The Albemarle Truth in Taxation Alliance is a Political Action Committee (PAC) registered with the Virginia State Board of Elections. Its non-partisan mission is to promote more effective and efficient Albemarle County government, focusing on the budgeting process and taxation issues.
In 2007, ATTA educated citizens about a state law requiring a proportional drop in the tax rate when assessments rise more than 1%, and also the Albemarle Supervisors' proposed 30% tax increase. ATTA's efforts resulted in a public outcry against the tax increase and a nearly $10 million savings to taxpayers.

January 13, 2022 Mr. Michael Ptasienski Inspector General United States House of Representatives 386 Ford Building Washington, DC 20515-9990 Via Email to: HouseIG@mail.house.gov
Dear Inspector General Ptasienski, We write pursuant to Res. 423, the House Administration Reform Resolution of 1992 amending the Rules of the House of Representatives. As noted by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) (https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/IF11024.pdf) (emphases added): The House IG is authorized to accept alleged violations of law or misconduct by House employees and to investigate … acceptance of gratuities, mismanagement and waste of funds, conflicts of interest, abuse of authority, theft or abuse of government property, computer crimes, purchase card fraud, improper use of House resources, and violations related to administration of the House. Should the IG receive information outside of its authority, it is to refer the information to other House entities (e.g., the House Ethics Committee), or noncongressional entities (e.g., the Department of Veterans Affairs), as appropriate.
The following information pertains to the use of privately financed or unpaid services and other in-kind support for the performance of official House business. It specifically suggests, in some detail, that outside parties are underwriting the provision of outside professional staff to, at minimum, the House Committee on Oversight & Reform, including specifically for a recently initiated “year-long” investigation that includes subpoenas issued to other private parties. This development, which on its face is in violation of House Rules (XXIV) and ethics requirements, represents the extension of a new but rapidly expanding practice of privately underwriting governmental staff, for “climate” policy and even investigating private parties viewed as impeding advancement of the climate policy agenda. This practice appears to have begun in 2018 when, public records reveal, certain governors’ staff prepared a budget for private underwriting of “climate” staff, off the books, on the express reason that “it can’t always be us staff” staffing elected officials. 1 These aides...

Watchdogs Seek IG Investigation into Secretary Haaland’s Top Counselor
January 18, 2022
Senior Counselor to the Secretary Potentially Misrepresented Former Client Relationships
Today, Energy Policy Advocates (EPA) and Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT) filed a complaint with the Department of the Interior’s Inspector General (IG) and ethics officials presenting information that suggests Senior Counselor to the Secretary Elizabeth Klein may have violated federal ethics laws and the Biden Ethics Pledge. These provisions prohibit political appointees from engaging in certain matters involving former employers and clients.
Ms. Klein, whose nomination for Deputy Secretary was withdrawn before she could be confirmed by the Senate, may have failed to provide vital information about the scope of her former employment from ethics officials preparing her guidance. While this alone could constitute an ethics violation, it also might have resulted in her working on matters she would have been prohibited from participating in if ethics officials were fully informed of her previous client relationships.
Ms. Klein served as Deputy Director of the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center (the “Center”) from January 2017 until joining Interior in January 2021. The Center, using funds obtained from billionaire Michael Bloomberg, entered into controversial agreements with state attorneys general (AG) offices around the country. As part of these agreements, the Center provided communications and consulting services and paid for legal fellows to assist the state AG offices with environmental litigation, much of which was in opposition to policies and actions of the Department of the Interior.
EPA’s state litigation efforts have uncovered agreements which Ms. Klein’s former employer entered into with at least 11 states. Yet documents provided by the Department indicate Ms. Klein may have revealed relationships to ethics officials regarding only five states. Ms. Klein’s potential conflicts of interest have also drawn the attention of Congressional representatives. EPA and PPT assert that a full investigation is warranted to ascertain whether Ms. Klein provided all appropriate information to ethics officials and whether she may have participated in matters from which she should have been recused.
:{:{“These new documents uncovered by Energy Policy Advocates suggest that Ms. Klein may have provided consulting services to many more state AG offices than just those reflected in her ethics guidance,” Michael Chamberlain, Director of Protect the Public’s Trust, said. “The belief that ethics obligations are not enforced equally is a major reason the American public’s trust in its government is at an all-time low. Of course, ethics officials can only provide guidance based on the information they are given. We believe that a complete and thorough investigation is necessary to ensure that Interior officials are fully adhering to their ethics obligations and avoiding potential conflicts.”
“The American people deserve to know that public servants have disclosed all the work they did in the private sector and recused from decisions that might benefit their former employers,” stated Rob Schilling, Executive Director of Energy Policy Advocates. “We hope the Inspector General will take a close look at these records and investigate whether Ms. Klein inappropriately failed to disclose her private employment or to recuse herself from decisions involving her former clients.”}:}:
###
The American public deserves to know:
- Whether a state AG office’s decision to enter into a Secondment Agreement with Ms. Klein’s employer, including a Secondment Agreement that explicitly listed Ms. Klein as a point of contact, made Ms. Klein a “consultant,” “agent,” “contractor,” or other analogous relationship to the state AG;
- Whether a state AG office’s decision to enter into a Common Interest Agreement with former clients of Ms. Klein’s on matters where she participated in the coordination and strategic development of that unified party litigation, made Ms. Klein a “consultant,” “agent,” “contractor,” or other analogous relationship to those parties;
- Whether Ms. Klein timely disclosed to ethics officials the existence and nature of her contractual relationship with all of the state AG offices who signed a Secondment Agreement with Ms. Klein’s employer during her tenure;
- Whether ethics advice was contemporaneously provided in written form regarding these additional relationships, and if so, when, in what manner, and why have these documents not been provided as responsive documents in relevant FOIA requests; if such advice was not contemporaneously provided in written form, why was it not and was that requested by Ms. Klein?
- Whether Ms. Klein inappropriately avoided disclosing to ethics officials that several state AG offices signed Secondment Agreements with her former employer during her tenure;
- Whether and to what extent Ms. Klein has participated in particular matters involving any of the states that signed a Secondment Agreement since joining the Department;
- Whether Ms. Klein sought ethics approval prior to participation with any former client – including former clients ultimately listed on her recusal list and former clients with whom she provided strategic and communications services to under the Secondment Agreements;
- Whether the temporary removal of Ms. Klein’s former clients from her recusal list in April 2020 (which were later added in June 2020) was justified and whether Ms. Klein inappropriately attended any meetings with those three states in that time period.
pleading Opposing Tort Lawyer “Friend of Court” Intervention Illuminates Climate Tort Campaign History…and Reveals New Details
Posted on February 10, 2020
Energy Policy Advocates and Rob Schilling previously filed a motion to intervene in the New York Attorney General’s case against ExxonMobil, which ended in a “debacle” for the activist NY AG (for three of them, in fact…). Their purpose is the limited one of unsealing certain records showing OAG’s relationship with the plaintiff’s tort lawyer Matt Pawa, who a major political and green-group donor suggests brought these investigations to the New York AG.
[pix of email]
Open records productions exhaustively detailed on CLW prove he brought the pitch to go after his civil litigation targets to other AGs.
Alternately, under New York law, the Court must explain its reasoning for keeping sealed each record it says should remain free from public inspection.
To keep these records showing the relationship between a public agency and a tort lawyer, urging law enforcement go after the latter’s targets, from public examination Mr. Pawa himself sought to intervene, as a “friend of the court”.
EPA/Schilling’s response clarifies some apparent confusion about what a Friend of the Court is, and isn’t, while noting Mr. Pawa’s odd focus on ad hominem as a reason to allow him to try and keep communications with NY OAG from the public. While EPA/Schilling acknowledge the oddity of that move, to the extent the Court is willing to entertain motives, the group lays out an interesting history of Mr. Pawa’s advocacy to AGs, underwritten by charitable donors.
Eagle-eyed CLW readers will spot the news that this exhibit breaks.

ELEASE: Citing Longstanding Precedent, New Emails, GAO Files Motion Asking NY Court to Unseal “#ExxonKnew” Documents Sent from Tort Lawyer to NY Attorney General
Posted on January 13, 2020
NEW YORK, NY – On Friday, an attorney for the public interest law firm Government Accountability & Oversight, P.C. (GAO) filed a motion to intervene in the New York Attorney General’s (NY OAG) failed climate litigation against ExxonMobil. On behalf of the public records group Energy Policy Advocates (EPA), GAO seeks intervention for the limited purpose of unsealing the company’s Amended Answer to NYOAG’s claim, its Reply Brief, certain exhibits sent to NY OAG by plaintiff’s tort lawyer Matt Pawa, and other related pleadings. Friday was the last day for NY OAG to appeal its disastrous December defeat.
An accompanying memorandum of law also notes longstanding statutory and common-law rights of public access to judicial documents, and an even more expansive right under the First Amendment. The memo also explains how these particular records are of key public interest given their importance to ongoing debates about the enlistment of law enforcement by private parties, even toward supporting private ends.
At NY OAG’s request, the Court had sealed certain records from public view involving OAG’s machinations with Mr. Pawa. Recently, in litigation filed on EPA’s behalf by GAO, Massachusetts AG Maura Healey— who Pawa also successfully pitched to investigate ExxonMobil — released her Office’s own Pawa correspondence. These newly revealed public records deeply undermine any notion that the emails and slide show used to recruit NY OAG are “whistleblower” materials, or are somehow privileged.
Massachusetts’ Healey refused for months to release these emails, claiming that would undermine her ExxonMobil investigation. As the deadline came for her Office to answer EPA’s complaint — and respond to very specific, troubling factual allegations about Pawa’s relationship with and influence on Healey’s Office — OAG abruptly released all of the emails in dispute. These similar records show that MA OAG improperly insisted on hiding them from the public, as they are in no way investigative, but only revelatory.
For example, we now know that Mr. Pawa described his firm’s “global warming presentation on Exxon” to OAGs as being about “information that has recently come to light”, and “documents that recently came to light”. His emails specify what this information was – public stories which, the public record also shows, were arranged for by parties promoting this same campaign (see, e.g., here, here, here and here).
The same Massachusetts OAG/Pawa correspondence strongly suggests that it was this information that Pawa presented to NY OAG. For example, “I have been giving this presentation to various government officials and am told that it has been very helpful to their understanding of the situation as they consider options similar to those the NY AG has commenced.”
NY OAG was indeed one among numerous attorneys general offices Mr. Pawa pitched to undertake these investigations. Other public records show Mr. Pawa or his firm gave this presentation seeking “a single sympathetic attorney general” to aid his cause to, e.g., California’s OAG on January 14, 2016, Illinois OAG on March 21, 2016, Connecticut OAG on April 19, 2016, Maryland AG Brian Frosh on February 18, 2016, Massachusetts OAG on January 11, 2016, and to many AGs on March 29, 2016 — presentations the AGs and Mr. Pawa sought to conceal.
After speaking to major political donor Wendy Abrams one Illinois OAG aide wrote to a colleague, “The NY AG is investigating the company and [Abrams] wanted to know if this was something the AG may be interested in supporting or signing on to…She would like to bring in a lawyer named Matt Pawa, who has offices in Boston and DC. Wendy says he may have been the one to go to the NY AG’s office about Exxon.” Ms. Abrams’s and Pawa emails to IL OAG also affirm that Pawa was pitching the same news items arranged for by allies.
A December 2015 Pawa email to Healey’s Office arranging his slide show confirms that this “information that had come to light” was those “articles that have generated so much attention on this issue”, placed by allies. Pawa had “been giving this presentation to various government officials…[as] just information provided as a public service that [OAG] may be able to use as [OAG] consider whether to take a closer look at this matter”.
It is now clear that, notwithstanding NY OAG insistence otherwise, the “information” was not “What Matt Pawa Knew”, some confidential informant- or “whistleblower”-type information, but titled “What Exxon Knew”, asserting claims made in publicly available stories targeting the company that were arranged for by the Rockefeller Family Fund.
These sealed materials reflect an effort by a tort lawyer to help his own cases by enlisting attorneys general to subpoena his targets. It is “going after climate denialism [sic]—along with a bunch of state and local prosecutors nationwide”. One federal court, referencing another Pawa presentation on the subject, called this a “‘strateg[y] to win access to internal documents’ of fossil fuel companies”.
Other public records affirm the NY OAG’s role in the effort to use law enforcement at the request of tort lawyers and activists. For example, it participated in what one participant called a “secret” briefing by for AG staff and “prospective funders” in pursuit of “potential state causes of action against major carbon producers”. Which suits NY OAG — and MA OAG — then filed.
These records illuminate how a plaintiffs’ tort lawyer enlisted law enforcement to pursue private parties in aid of his litigation campaign, are of immense public interest, and should be unsealed.

House Democrats are using privately funded staff to investigate oil companies for spreading “disinformation” on climate change, a possible violation of federal law and the chamber’s own rules, a lawsuit alleges.
A spokesperson for Democrats on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, which is conducting the yearlong investigation, said the committee has followed all relevant laws and rules in consulting with others.
Co-Equal, the private nonprofit group named in the federal public information lawsuit, denies being part of a major hearing in the climate-related investigation of oil companies.
Co-Equal, founded by two of House Democrats’ former staffers who led the congressional tobacco hearings in the 1990s, is sponsored by Arabella Advisors, a liberal megadonor. The group also received $300,000 from an organization backed by another major donor on the left, billionaire financier George Soros.
Virginia talk radio host Rob Schilling, a former reporter who won awards from The Associated Press and the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, filed the lawsuit seeking records from the House of Representatives. Schilling is represented by a private watchdog group called Government Accountability & Oversight.
Democrats v. Big Oil
The subject of Schilling’s lawsuit is the House Oversight and Reform Committee’s investigation alleging “disinformation” from oil companies misled the public about the dangers of climate change. The suit alleges that the Democrat-run committee violated the law in its zeal to go after oil companies.
Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., chairman of the panel’s environment subcommittee, told The Hill in September that the committee enlisted the aid of “a lot of people” who planned the 1990s hearings into tobacco companies chaired by then-Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif.
The first big public event from the probe was an Oct. 28 hearing by the full oversight panel questioning CEOs of six major oil companies. But, as Khanna said in a Reuters story published a day earlier: “This will be a yearlong investigation and the hearings mark the beginning of it.”
The committee held another hearing Tuesday at which climate activists and scientists testified about whether oil companies are acting to address global warming, as well as their alleged disinformation effort.
Congress must properly use its subpoena power, Schilling said.
“Congress has the power to issue subpoenas when it has a proper legislative purpose,” Schilling told The Daily Signal in an email. “This seems to be no more than scapegoating Congress’s failure to persuade the public about this agenda, after all this time and money. But members of Congress are getting ever more bold about confessing the true purpose here is not legitimate legislative inquiry.”
Lawsuit Alleges Violation of House Rules, Law
The lawsuit, filed Jan. 24 in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, seeks “access to certain records pertaining to the use of outside private donations, funds, or in-kind goods or services to conduct and support the activities of, or pay the expenses of, a congressional office in violation of House rules.”
The lawsuit seeks all emails and any Skype and other recordings regarding the House Oversight and Reform Committee and donor-provided consultants.
Congress exempted itself from the Freedom of Information Act, however, so the lawsuit refers to “common law” precedent for access to public records that preceded FOIA.
“During the Nixon administration, the courts repeatedly ruled that there was a common law right of access and that it was quite broad,” Schilling told The Daily Signal. “I hope that the courts haven’t forgotten the importance of the common law right since then.”
“The issue here is whether the public’s interest in these arrangements is outweighed by the interest in keeping these arrangements secret, and that does not seem to be a high bar,” the former journalist said.
His suit goes on to state that House Rule XXIV and federal law, specifically 31 U.S. Code Section 1342, prohibit the use of outside private donations and in-kind goods or services.
The Oversight and Reform Committee has followed all rules in its investigation, the spokesperson told The Daily Signal in an email.
“Congressional offices routinely speak with outside experts,” the spokesperson wrote. “The committee has followed all applicable House rules in this critically important investigation into Big Oil’s disinformation campaign to deny climate change, and will continue to do so in the future.”
The lawsuit notes that Democrat state attorneys general withdrew subpoenas to more than 100 think tanks, scientists, and others in a 2016 climate investigation after Competitive Enterprise Institute, a libertarian think tank, challenged the subpoenas on First Amendment grounds.
Co-Equal Ties to Arabella, Soros
Co-Equal, a private nonprofit, has been helping to supplement congressional staff since at least 2019.
:{
}:
Schilling’s lawsuit identifies Co-Equal’s founders as similar to Khanna’s description of who is assisting in the probe of oil companies. That’s because two staffers who worked for Waxman during the tobacco hearings—counsel Phil Barnett and staff director Phil Schiliro—founded Co-Equal.
:{
}:
Schiliro held three White House positions during Barack Obama’s presidency. In his 25 years on Capitol Hill, Barnett also was staff director of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Khanna said in September that “a lot of people” who planned the 1990s Waxman hearings into the tobacco industry were assisting Democrats in the oil company investigation.
However, Barnett said Co-Equal was not involved with the Oct. 28 hearing with oil company CEOs.
The Co-Equal website says: “Co-Equal is a project of the Hopewell Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Co-Equal Action is a project of the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization.”
Arabella Advisors, a Washington-based consulting firm, is the fiscal sponsor of the Hopewell Fund, the Sixteen Thirty Fund, and other nonprofits that bankroll liberal organizations.
Moreover, the Open Society Policy Center, a group financed by Soros, earmarked $300,000 for the Co-Equal Action Fund in a donation to the Sixteen Thirty Fund, according to the policy center’s fourth-quarter 2018 report. The report said the donation was specifically “to support work to enhance congressional effectiveness and oversight.”
“It’s the kind of textbook Beltway insider scheme that Arabella deserves to be famous for: Funding from George Soros to shadowy nonprofits running a partisan campaign to push radical environmentalism on the country,” Hayden Ludwig, a senior investigative researcher with the conservative think tank Capital Research Center, told The Daily Signal.
Co-Equal met questions about the lawsuit from The Daily Signal by referring to a Jan. 31 letter from co-founder Barnett to Sally Dudley, an associate director at Arabella Advisors.
“The allegations in the complaint regarding Co-Equal are false. The Government Accountability and Oversight group claims that Co-Equal—and by extension Arabella—were involved in an Oct. 28, 2021, climate hearing held by the House Oversight and Reform Committee,” wrote Barnett, a former staffer for Waxman on two separate House committees, including the Oversight panel during the tobacco hearings of the 1990s.
Barnett added in the letter:
I want to make sure you know Co-Equal had no involvement in that [climate] hearing and no Co-Equal resources were used in connection with the committee’s investigation. Apart from the false allegation about Co-Equal, the theory of the complaint rests on an erroneous interpretation of House Rule 24 that conflicts with the history of the rule and how it has been interpreted by the House Ethics Committee.
The organization did not respond to a follow-up email from The Daily Signal asking whether the separate political action entity, Co-Equal Action, was involved in the hearing or the investigation.
Schilling said Co-Equal was responding to an allegation he doesn’t make in the lawsuit.
“They’re distracting from the issue and answering a claim I haven’t made,” Schilling told The Daily Signal. “Whether or not certain individuals attended a hearing is a very different issue from whether they were involved in the hearing and planning the hearing. And whether Co-Equal resources were used in connection with the investigation or any particular hearing is something that the appropriate officials ought to look into, rather than accept on faith, especially under these very unusual circumstances.”
Schilling’s lawsuit references a 2019 news report in The New York Times about Co-Equal forming to help Congress “reassert” itself by investigating the Trump administration.
Co-Equal’s website notes that the number of congressional staffers responsible for conducting oversight has declined since 1994. It says the organization can provide advice and “connect congressional offices with experts who level the information playing field.”
Schilling’s lawsuit doesn’t directly allege that Co-Equal is part of the investigation, but says only:
Plaintiff states on information and belief, including based upon Chairman Khanna’s admissions and other materials in the public domain, that among the outside parties brought in as consultants to execute this new quasi-judicial pursuit of private parties are individuals operating through and as part of an organization called Co-Equal.
The lawsuit also refers to a June 15, 2017, memo from Barnett and Schiliro on climate issues that doesn’t appear to be related to Co-Equal, the group they founded.

Fox & Friends will be covering Schilling’s blog post entitled, “Sarah Palin mocked, ‘globalist’ indoctrination promoted in Albemarle County middle school classroom,”a story that was broken on The Schilling Show blog, www.schillingshow.com, over the weekend.
Schilling was contacted by concerned parents and students at Albemarle County’s Henley Middle School regarding one-sided political messages displayed in this classroom. The blog post documented the complaints with photographs of the material and contrasted them with references to Albemarle County School Board policy, which the classroom environment appears to violate.

Sarah Palin mocked; “globalist” indoctrination promoted in Albemarle County middle school classroom
By Schilling Show - May 31, 2009 429 61
Over the years, we have received numerous complaints about liberal Charlottesville City and Albemarle County teachers indoctrinating captive government school students in violation of the respective divisions’ policies.
However, as students and their parents with minority political viewpoints are fearful of classroom and administrative retribution for reporting such infractions, hard evidence has been hard to come by.
But now, The Schilling Show brings you these exclusive and potentially incriminating pictures of Margie Shepherd’s Henley Middle School classroom number 47.
Proudly promulgated in Mrs. Shepherd’s cultivation chamber, is a printed, bingo-like game piece mocking Republican Alaska Governor and former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. This derisive display, apparently acquired from the web site, Palin Bingo, ridicules Gov. Palin via association of her likeness with a number of traducing terms and by displaying a banner over her head, which reads, “AIR SPACE.”
How might this inappropriate and partisan political display affect the comfort level of any child in that classroom who happens to support Governor Palin and/or the Republican Party?
In addition to the insulting insinuation that Gov. Palin is an “airhead,” the same classroom is rife with “ecological,” “United Nations,” and “pacifist/peace” propaganda, all posted with no counterbalancing counsel for pupils’ perusal.
The Albemarle County School Board unequivocally addresses the topic of student indoctrination in their policy paper entitled, “Teaching About Controversial Issues,” as follows:
The Albemarle County School Board accepts training for effective citizenship as one of the major purposes of education.+ This includes, in part, recognizing that many important areas of study involve issues on which differing positions are held by individuals or groups.
In considering such issues, it shall be the purpose of the Albemarle County Public Schools to allow the student to do the following:
- Study any controversial issue which has political, economic, or social significance and which is within the range, knowledge, maturity and competence of the students, and which does not conflict with State Board of Education regulations and the Albemarle County School Board Policies and regulations.
- Provide resources containing a wide range of views on controversial issues so that students may develop the practice of critical reading and thinking.
- Study under competent instruction in an atmosphere of freedom from bias and prejudice.
- Form and express opinions on controversial issues without jeopardizing his position with the school.
The role of the teacher in the presentation of controversial issues is vitally important.+ All sides of the issue should be given the students in a balanced manner.+ The goal is for the students to be taught to think clearly on all matters of importance, and to make their own decisions in the light of all the material that has been presented or can be secured on the issues.+ Indoctrination is not a policy of the Albemarle County Public Schools.
Although the instructional program of the school division includes many facets of the political party system in the United States, the School Board does not sanction as a part of the school program the involvement of students in activities that imply school endorsement of an individual political party or candidate.+ Individual class assignments and volunteer work involving students in political activities are permissible.
This teacher’s classroom “decoration” appears to violate the division’s policies in myriad ways, particularly; items 2 and 3 above are brazenly transgressed.
But, it doesn’t stop there. A document obtained from Mrs. Shepherd’s classroom web site describes a current student assignment entitled “Peace by Piece.” This task requires children to “turn what you have learned about Citizenship and World Issues into a Vision of your idea of a better world, and put that vision into action by using your project to raise money for a project that will make the world a better place.”
There are two components to this assignment:
An essay about the student’s own “vision of a better world.” The instructions read in part: “How could things happen to make the world safer, cleaner and more fair for everybody?”
A “visionary art project” in which students are to make “an artistic creation that will be saleable at our ‘Peace by Piece’ silent auction.” Students are further instructed to make an item that “will produce at least $25.00” and to “make something that other people will want to buy to support this effort.”
Here is the verbatim topic list from Mrs. Shepherd’s assignment worksheet:
World Peace
Racial Harmony
Environmental Issues – Clean water, air, protecting the rainforests, respect for Mother Earth
Cultural Sharing, global society
Non-violence
Communication
Four Freedoms
Human Rights
Fairness to children / Children of the world
Fair trade
End to hunger
Lending a hand
Service to others
Freedom
Some of the listed topics from which students may choose a subject for their “Peace by Piece” project appear innocuous. However, this list of topics also includes subtle and obvious overtures topotentially anti-American and anti-Christian themes such as disarmament, nature worship, “fair trade,” and globalism, among others, with little-to-no counterbalance offered.
So, who might (or should) be bothered by this bid to brainwash tomorrow’s adult Americans?
Christian families who teach their child(ren) of man’s God-given dominion over the earth (Gen. 1:26) may take great umbrage with Gaia-like intimation in Mrs. Shepherd’s bumper sticker that proclaims “we belong to the earth.”
Patriotic American families who instruct their child(ren) in the Founders’ principles of American sovereignty may dispute the displayed pro-United Nations / One World proselytism as seen in stickers, photographs and posters in Mrs. Shepherd’s classroom.
Those whose families have been liberated by, have served in, or have great reverence for the American military may decidedly dispute the manifestation that “War is not the answer” (because sometimes it is) and the proliferation of pacifist messages in Henley’s classroom number 47.
Given the above documentation, can this classroom learning environment possibly be considered to follow the School Board’s stated guidelines to:
Provide resources containing a wide range of views on controversial issues so that students may develop the practice of critical reading and thinking.
or
Study under competent instruction in an atmosphere of freedom from bias and prejudice.
Is the Albemarle County School Board’s guideline for teacher presentation being followed:
The role of the teacher in the presentation of controversial issues is vitally important.+ All sides of the issue should be given the students in a balanced manner.
There does not appear to be balance of presentation in Mrs. Shepherd’s Henley Middle School classroom number 47.
To wit:
Where are the references to God, the Creator of the earth to balance the “Mother Earth” and other Gaia-inspired, environmental messages?
Where are the references that speak highly of America; her gifts of freedom and prosperity to her citizens and to much of the world, and the belief, held by many Americans, in “peace through strength,” to balance the globalist United Nations messages?
Where are the balancing political references? While one party (Republican) is mocked (i.e. the Republican governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin), references to the other party (Democrat) are non-existent.
Perhaps, Mrs. Shepherd is unaware that there exist alternative viewpoints to those she liberally proffers within her classroom, or perhaps she is unaware of the Albemarle County School Board policy which may apply here. Ignorance of policies or of alternative opinions and beliefs, however, is no excuse for contravening division protocol. In all cases documented here, information representing a “wide range of views on controversial issues”—as required by the Albemarle County School Board’s own guidelines—appears notably absent within the walls of Henley Middle School’s classroom number 47.
Parents, citizens, teachers, administrators, and School Board members alike, you have been informed of a potential policy violation within one of your classrooms. It is now up to you to evaluate and respond, or not.

A July 5 breaking story on 911 tapes of Elizabeth Daly’s arrest at a Charlottesville Harris Teeter store propelled The Schilling Show into the international news spotlight once again, as the Drudge Report published the news top-of-page.
An overwhelming response from Drudge patrons crashed our server and that of BearingDrift.com, where the story also appeared.
Ultimately, the piece was adapted and published by Breitbart.com, where it was seen by multitudes of national and international readers.
The Schilling Show thanks the Drudge Report, Bearing Drift, and Breitbart for sounding the alarm on the abuses of the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control in their unjust and unwarranted assault on Elizabeth Daly and her passengers.
BB
On Friday, radio host Rob Schilling revealed the audio of a stunning 911 call placed by one “Ann, Downey,” apparently a passenger in the car driven by 20-year-old Elizabeth Daly as Virginia law enforcement from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) surrounded the car. Daly was arrested on April 11, 2013, after she was surrounded by ABC agents who suspected that she had bought alcohol illegally due to her age. In fact, she had bought bottled water and cookie dough. While the officers surrounded the car, the passengers called 911.
The audio of the call is shocking. The women on the call begin crying “oh my God” and “what should we do,” asking for help from the 911 dispatcher. Daly later said that she feared the ABC officers wanted to break the windows of the car, and Daly left the scene of the incident at the behest of the 911 operator. She stopped once the 911 operator told her to do so after ascertaining the identity of the people surrounding the car.
The 911 operator speaks with one of the agents on the phone, and the agent says that everyone showed their badges, and that the driver “pulled up and tried to run over people.” All charges against Daly have been voluntarily withdrawn. No apology has been issued to Daly or her passenger.

conservative radio host based in Virginia has blown the whistle on a series of disturbing incidents in Virginia surrounding Romney supporters being persecuted for their political enthusiasm. Specifically, people have been defacing Romney signs with human excrement, cutting them up with box cutters, and vandalizing the property of those who display them. Threatening phone calls have also been recorded in the video.
A video details some of the actions, which the Washington Timesdescribes graphically:
The clip (prefaced with a warning of “extremely graphic content”) on the “Schilling Show” blog, written by radio host Rob Schilling, begins with President Obama on the campaign trail telling attendees to “argue with them and get in their face,” a phrase he used in 2008 to encourage his supporters to talk to friends and neighbors about voting and accurately delivering his message, whether they were Republican or independent.
The clip then shifts to an expletive-laced rant labeled “Actual phone call received at Albemarle County, Virginia GOP Headquarters — September 11, 2012.”
It goes on to show a man tearing down yard signs at an Americans For Prosperity event in Charlottesville while screaming obscenities, then a montage of Republican political signs that have been defaced — in one case with excrement — and Nazi imagery plastered onto an AFP sign.
The video ends with the words “Don’t let Democrats, vandals, thieves, oppressors, intimidators, and tyrants silence you … Remember, NOVEMBER IS COMING.”
Given that Virginia is one of the most vital swing states this election cycle, these incidents will likely surprise no one. One of these incidents – the one involving a screaming Obama supporter tearing down Americans for Prosperity signs – is in fact, not even from this election cycle, but from 2010. If that sort of incident occurred during an off-year, it’s anyone’s guess what might be in store this time around.

However, Virginia is not the only place where this sort of rabid defacement and vandalism is common. Twitchy has recorded a depressing trend among open Obama supporters on Twitter — namely, the tendency to brag about urinating on Romney yard signs.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Rob Schilling, radio host and founder of SchillingShow.com, and Tobey Bouch, owner of Tobey’s Pawn Shop, have filed a lawsuit against Governor Ralph Northam, State Health Commissioner, M. Norman Oliver, Attorney General, Mark Herring and Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Hingeley due to an executive order requiring Virginians to wear masks in public indoor spaces, according to a news release from Greene County-based attorney Matthew D. Hardin.
On Monday, Hardin filed the Complaint for Declaratory and Injunctive Relief and press conference on the Lawn in front of the Albemarle County General District Court.
“There is no one above the law,” Schilling said in the release, “...and that includes the governor and his minions. Executive Order 63 is legally flawed and must be rescinded. The public trust has been seriously abused by the governor’s wanton actions.”
The lawsuit says the executive order requiring masks, which went into effect on Friday, contradicts other state laws banning the wearing of masks in public.
It also so says that masks that are reused or are homemade may increase health risks for the people wearing them.
Hardin said Tobey's Pawn is concerned for the health and safety of its patrons as well as employees.
“The governor has put business owners between a rock and a hard place in suggesting that business entities will be punished for not enforcing his questionable mandates,” Hardin said in the release.
The release stated Schilling and Bouch hope the suit will serve as a warning to wayward government officials across Virginia that they are "bound by law and not by whim."
Part of Bouch's concerns is tied to his stores selling firearms and storing large amounts of money. He says masks worn in his stores could be a security problem.
The lawsuit is asking the court to declare the executive order unlawful and prevent any prosecutions for violations of it.

RECORDS LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP RE: USE OF DONOR-PROVIDED CONSULTANTS AS CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATIVE STAFF
Today, award-winning independent journalist Rob Schilling filed a lawsuit against Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the Clerk and Chief Administrator of the House of Representatives to exercise the public’s common law right of access to records. Specifically, Schilling’s suit seeks certain described emails, and any Skype and similar recordings and logs, pertaining to the use by two committee chairs of donor-provided consultants as professional staff to perform official business.
This follows the revelation that Congress also had joined in a practice, initiated by Democratic governors and attorneys general with the assistance of major donors after the election of Donald Trump as President, ofusing privately funded staff to perform official business to advance the “climate” agenda.Public records show budgets for tens of millions of dollars of in-kind gifts to governors in the form of non-employee climate “staff” and media consultants, and that progressive state attorneys general took in donor-hired and -provided prosecutors.
Now, it appears that the House Committee on Oversight & Reform is using donor-provided consultants as staff to guide what Environment Subcommittee Chairman Ro Khanna told activists to expect will be a “year-long” investigation of private parties, already expanded, for political speech that Rep. Khanna believes has frustrated attempts to legislate the agenda.
Scapegoating congressional failures is not a constitutionally permissible use of Congress’s investigative powers — with or without the financial assistance of activist donors. While the constitutionality of this “year-long” investigation is not yet at hand, Schilling was one of two parties filing two complaints with congressional ethics watchdogs over this work, the Inspector General of the House and the Office of Congressional Ethics.
As the complaints noted, the gray area exploited by some governors and AGs is not present here: House Rules and federal law prohibit private financing of the performance of official House business, in-kind or otherwise.
This new congressional investigation began with oil company executives in October but, according to past behavior and recent hints, seems likely to extend soon to others the “climate” industry views as having impeded its desires. A previous AGs’ campaign noted in today’s suit led to subpoenas to over 100 think tanks, scientists, and others also in the name of pursuing energy companies for purported climate-related sins. This blew up on the AGs when the targets challenged the obvious violation of private individuals’ First Amendment rights, thanks to the subpoena battle fought by the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
The AG leading that charge retreated. However, many of the same AG offices involved in that scheme then brought on attorneys privately hired and placed in their offices by a group created by billionaire climate activist Michael Bloomberg, which offices then resumed the investigations. It has thus become clear that none of these abuses of power, in the name of enormous payouts and massive new governmental authority, were ever truly abandoned.
If anything, they have expanded. The complaint also notes the prospect that the Committee objective is to engineer criminal referrals to the U.S. Department of Justice, in aid of a Biden-Harris campaign promise to engage DoJ on behalf of the climate industry in its lawsuits against private industry. Indeed, the Oversight Chairmen told activists they were eyeing perjury charges against witnesses...a week before any testimony was taken or any questions posed.
Further, however, prompting Schilling’s requests was Committee leadership also letting slip that it had brought in consultants to help guide the campaign, describing them in a way strongly indicating — thanks both to the :{New York Times:(style="box-sizing:border-box"):}: and the group itself — use of a group funded by Arabella Advisors, the “mothership” behind a Democratic “Dark money juggernaut.”
The suit notes that this expansion of donor-provided climate “staff” comes after previous revelations of a $50 million per year budget request for off-books climate staff for progressive governors by 2020. Then came Bloomberg's millions to staff up AGs to, e.g., push climate prosecutions that — with ever-changing rationales but a constant demand for hundreds of billions of dollars to be politically distributed — appear to be little more than shakedowns.
Now the spawn of both disgraces prowls the halls of Congress, and in this case there is no room to excuse the behavior which on its face violates :{31 U.S. Code § 1342:(style="box-sizing:border-box"):}:, :{House Rules:(style="box-sizing:border-box"):}: and ethics requirements/prohibitions (House Rule XXIV and :{official:(style="box-sizing:border-box"):}: House :{interpretations:(style="box-sizing:border-box"):}: thereof).
Fortunately, the NYT launched the outside consultants’ effort, hiding it in plain sightwith a promotional piece that, tellingly, made no inquiry into what skeptical voices — let alone House Rules or federal law — say about what the Times nonetheless admits (if with understatement) is a “unique approach”. That same article, and the consultants’ website admissions, now tie the hands of the Members of Congress who brought in outside parties on the basis, indeed the confession, that the House did not grant them the level of professional staff the “climate” movement feels it should have to use the power of government to pursue political opponents.
Those opponents have apparently frustrated the “climate” movement beyond the point of caring about rules, a matter which House Inspector General has already declined to examine, about which the Congressional Office on Ethics which has a complaint, and the House Committee on Administration. The latter’s Ranking Minority Member Rodney Davis has already stirred to action out of his own frustration with what he views as coverup by the House leadership.
For now, Schilling’s common law right of access suit seeks to exercise the public’s right to know about this metastasizing of off-books private staffing to Congress, again (as was the case with the AGs) for adjudicative/quasi-judicial matters against private, political opponents.
Plaintiff Robert Schilling hosts The Schilling Show radio program broadcast on Newsradio 1070 and 98.9 FM WINA in Central Virginia, and is the founder and editor of a news, analysis, and commentary web site, SchillingShow.com, whose reporting and investigative journalism has been awarded multiple times by the Associated Press and the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, including two “Superior Awards for Best Investigative Reporting” from the Associated Press.
GAO Board Member Matthew D. Hardin filed suit for Schilling, following requests for the records made in November and December 2021, which all of the named defendants ignored.
