Benefits Traceability

Benefits Traceability

Business cases are developed and approved for the Benefits they promise.

Projects are initiated, procurements undertaken, contracts let, and plans executed in order to deliver the results that will enable the Benefits promised in the Business Case.

So it seems logical that at every stage of

project definition,

options evaluation,

requirements specification,

procurement planning,

supplier identification,

offer evaluation,

supplier selection,

contract,

execution,

handover and contract management

there should be traceability to the Benefits promised in the Business Case. But often this link is broken or forgotten.

How do we restore the links so we always keep sight of the Benefits?
